Sound Dampening Foam questions

Has anyone used some of the sound abatement foams like NoRez or Sonic Barrier
inside their SDA model speakers and where did you place it? Did you think it helped improve the
sound quality? I think I want to use some NoRez in mine, the reviews are good.
If you have pics too that would be great, thanks.

I've not used No Rez, but I've read that it's good.

It absolutely improved the sound of both my 2.3TL's and RTA 12C's, de-congesting the midrange - didn't know it was congested till I heard the speaks with the BH installed. I highly recommend this stuff.

I wouldn't waste money on sonic barrier.

I used norez and placed it in 3" strips behind the MW and tweeters keeping the factory fill in place.

I had done several other upgrades when I did this but I recall that the bass had improved texture and increased punch.

I was cheap and bought one sheet and that is how it worked out dividing the material between 2 speakers and it seemed others who went down this path before had over did it with BH5 and found less was better.


I suppose in theory with norez you could do the most if not the entire cabinet with no ill effects.

YEP!! 3" strips behind the drivers and 2" strips along the side walls behind the drivers as well is what I did and love it!!!

BTW I used BH5. I have wanted to try no rez for sometime but have not had the project for it just yet..

No Rez is a great product.

The only thing I caution against is putting it too close to the midbass drivers, do not crowd the drivers.

I've just used regular, soft foam and it helped absorb the back wave on the mid drivers to provide a cleaner sound.
