Something bad happened

One of the Peerless tweeters in my Monitor 10As stopped working. The previous owner defeated the fuse so that did not save it. I took it apart and saw that the thin red wire from the lead to the coil had broken. I tried to solder it back but may have screwed it up even more. Does anyone know if that is repairable? I did find a replacement Peerless tweeter from Midwest Speaker. They are about 10 miles from me. Is that any good?

ideally you want to replace the peerless with an authentic. there are some on ebay right now:

if you go with the midwest speaker replacement you will want to buy two of them; one for each speaker. if you do a search on the forum you can find a review of them. the reviewer said they are pretty good. not perfectly identical but a reasonable replacement.

I just bought this on E-bay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=330877904584 I believe it is the Peerless made in the US. The one that died had 7514 on the back. I am hoping this will work.

After doing some more investigating I discovered that the number on the back of the dead tweeter is 7514. The one I bought on eBay is 5514. The one healthy one's number is also 5514. Maybe this is not such a bad thing to get a matched pair.
