Anyone familiar with the Mitsubishi HC4000 Projector?

Like the title states, I am thinking of pulling the trigger on the HC4000 projector. I live in a small town and won't be able to see any projectors in person before buying online. The reviews seem pretty darn good on this unit, but I would love to hear any feedback or personal experience anyone here would have.
It would project onto a 106" Draper fixed screen (matte white), in a somewhat well light controlled basement. Not pitch black, but too dark to read a book (not that you ever would in a dark room).
Looking for a good bang for the buck, and projectorpeople has it refurbished for around $650.

I have Installed many 4000's and I can tell you, it's overly worth that price. It's a crazy stupid nice projector. For that kind of money it's a flat out mugging.
I believe you will be extremely pleased with it's performance. I never put one in and thought it sucked in any way.

Then the HC4000 it is!

The only issue folks in other forums say about it is that it's not as bright as the Epsons or the BenQ's. Are they splitting hairs, or is the HC4000 bright enough to be used in a mostly to somewhat light controlled room?

No Projector does well in any kind of bright room, the darker the better by friend.

Cool. Thanks. The room isn't bright, but there is enough ambient light to walk and not bump into things. Just ordered it! I agree, a great price for such a highly regarded projector. Looks like I'll need a ultra low profile mount, as my ceilings are only 8.5 feet high and I'm going with a 106 inch screen.
Excited to finally put my Anthem MRX and KEF speakers to good use!

I love this pj and it looks awesome and got to watch the movie 2012 on it. I remember taking notes from my epson 8100 I had and the diff was crazy. The limo scene was stark as not only was the limo blacker and sunlight brighter but the smooth motion was very natural with no blur.

I wonder why you never considered the benq w1070 for $899?

That projector is around $1k, out of my budget and I don't care for 3d. Just wanted a solid 2d that would shoot an impressive picture.

Well the benq wont be leaps and bounds but nothing will beat the 4000 for the price thats for sure and the lamp replacment on the 4000 is very reasonable

I absolutely love my Mitsubishi pj. Make sure it has plenty of room to circulate air...
