looks fine to me - are those 6BQ5 outputs?
It's (IME) impossible to build a bad sounding amp - PP or SE - using 6BQ5s :-)
Now, back on topic - how about this goofy SE 7591 stereo console amp? This was a $3 acquisition (the whole console) at a fundraising flea market at our church many years ago. How did it sound? OK - I never tried it with fresh output tubes, though - the originals may have been very tired.

Not mine :-( but one I re-hab'bed for a local fellow. Nice sounding PP EL84 stereo integrated amp from Fisher's glory days.

Jeff is that the Baldwin?
There exists, for everyone, a sentence - a series of words - that has the power to destroy you. Another sentence exists, another series of words, that could heal you. If you're lucky you will get the 2nd, but you can be certain of getting the 1st. - Philip K. Dick

This one isn't mine; I have one, but not prettied up :-)
This is a push-pull EL84 stereo power amp, chassis 93-02, abstracted from an early 1960s Magnavox console. Those old Maggotbox consoles had extremely simple (very low parts count, even kind of crude in design) but surprisingly good sounding amplifiers. They're great starter tube amps for someone who is willing and eager to tinker a little bit.
Mine still looks like this :-) I ususally use it, rather heretically, with a pair of AR-3 three-way acoustic suspension (and quite insensitive) speakers. PS I have a prettier pair of AR-3s than the dump-find pair shown below :-P
Just a little more on the Maggotbox amps. This is an extremely similar one, chassis 88-01 (or 88-02); this one is a push-pull 6V6 stereo amp (about 10 wpc) and also very nice sounding. I was partially responsible for the "modernization" of this one; some of the work was done by its owner.
I hope the below-decks view gives an idea of how little "there" there is there (to paraphrase Gertrude Stein) :-)
Here's another way to see that, if you're used to looking at schematics. Not too much stands between your source and your speakers with an amp like this - and that's generally a good thing :-)
(I edited out the power supply circuit - it, too, is simple but effective)
all the best,
mrh

Nice amp - I've got a 222C - and another basket case 222 - and an LK-72, both needing restoration (and no photos handy of either).
all the best,

The 299C I have is a real showstopper cosmetically. The real challange for me was restuffing the cap caps...as you know, very little space under the hood for replacements caps.

"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass
