Heck for that I'd go to audiogon and pic up a set of AQ Jaguars with the DBS for $190.

I sold my pair of King Cobras here on the Flea Market for $100.

Thats a good price if they are in good condition. If he's firm , then I'm gonna assume they are. Get them , they are very good.

If they are in very good condition, that sounds like a good price to me.

I use King Cobras, and they produce excellent sound.

I used to run the KCs. Good interconnects and $125 is a good price for a 1m pair.

this is true, I made that mistake once... make sure they have original packaging or at least original receipt. Someone else may know better on how to tell if its fake.

From a private seller, ive heard about the new in package from china and hong kong scams but not used ones. It is always possible though. Any tips would be helpfull to id them as i have never seen them in person just in the picts.

I purchased a fake pair from an eBay listing, and I returned them to the seller after going through the PayPal dispute resolution process.

The first indication that something may not be "right" is the absence of original packaging. I talked with an Audioquest Regional Sales VP, who told me what I had also read elsewhere -- Counterfeiters can counterfeit the cables more easily than they can counterfeit the packaging. Hence, they don't do it.

In my case, the seller had packaging, but it indicated the incorrect length on the box. It had apparently been "borrowed" from another pair of legitimate cables.

Two other indicators of counterfeits are: 1) The color of the connectors is not quite right. It helps to have a genuine pair of cables to make this comparison. It also helps to have a spouse who is much better about judging colors than I am!

2) The color of the braided covering on the cables may be off. Again, it helps to have a genuine pair of cables to make the comparison.

In my case, both these latter two indicators were present.

However, if the "illegitimate" cables are not counterfeit, but are a pair that an Audioquest contract firm in China produced along with their legitimate production run for Audioquest, but shipped "out the back door," then as far as I know there is no way to tell the difference. In fact, there may not be any physical difference, only a difference in the legitimacy of the sales channel. This "illegitimacy" deprives Audioquest of revenue that allows them to recover their R&D costs, which means less R&D and fewer innovations.

Of course, if you buy the cables, and the sound is rotten, then they're probably fakes.

Buying cables sight unseen is a risky business. Unless you're willing to take that risk for the potential savings, you're likely better off buying through normal channels.

I will "see" them before i buy as they are local. However i have no exp. with them so wouldnt know real vs knockoffs buy visual inspection ( truth be known) . Ive compaired the picts and they look ok. So who knows! Wish i could find them here where i would feel more confident in the seller, maybe i need to be more patient. Tax money burning a hole in my pocket!LOL ive been wanting to go this way for a while now.

Important, but violation will not result in the audio gods descending upon you abode in wrath - just mild disdain from afar...

Those who subscribe to realization that everything matters will tell you from firsthand experience that different cables will impart subtle to dramatic changes -so, most times you want the ICs to match, sometimes it depends.

I'd make them match to start to establish a sonic baseline, if you will - then if there is something subtle you just don't quite like or would like to tweak - an IC change could be just the thing.

Don't worry about it. If you already have a cable in mind you like the sound of, roll with that. If not, nothing wrong with using different brands to mix and match. Sometimes those other combinations can produce better results than just sticking to one brand. The only exception I can think of are MIT cables. They seem to have a more pronounced effect when everything in the chain is MIT. Knock your socks off, experiment.

I agree 100%. I love mine. I believe that everything makes a difference for the good or the bad. The question isnt if it makes a difference, the question is if the difference is worth the cost.

Dont know of anything i could do for a hundo that could make more improvement! so yes it is worth it! Now i need one more pair.
