Guess it all depends on your priorities. We have one of the worst public school systems in the country, one of if not the highest murder rates, traffic sucks along with our tolls, some of the highest taxes, high priced gas and groceries too. Lets also not forget we are 90 billion in the hole so someone will have to cough up sooner or later and guess who that will be ? If none of that matters to you, then yeah, Illinois is your utopia.

"All these I have kept," the young man said. "What do I still lack?" J. answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth...
"And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God."

Ahem...I wonder WHO said that? Oh, yeah, it was that carpenter fellow. What does "he" know about the modern world of finance and job creators?

Just to poke you in the eye a bit (because I feel like being feisty/devils advocate, not because I want to start an actual flame war).... one could also rebut that statement with Matthews Parable of the Three Servants Matthew 25:14-30.

There exists, for everyone, a sentence - a series of words - that has the power to destroy you. Another sentence exists, another series of words, that could heal you. If you're lucky you will get the 2nd, but you can be certain of getting the 1st. - Philip K. Dick

Hardly the case. This story is an ALLEGORY. The real meaning is about spiritual riches NOT EARTHLY ones. You are reading something literally, that was NEVER meant to be read in that way. As such it DOES NOT contradict the quote in my post, sorry! Try again!

It's the kind of misdirection Fundamentalists constantly appeal to in order to justify things "they" believe that have NO correlates in their own scriptures.

And I'll leave it at that since I am not a religious man, though I know most of the world's scriptures as well as religions fairly well!
