Default Ever party at The Bayou ?

New documentary about it is now playing on PBS. I misspent some of my youth there, great club, now just a memory.

Had some good times down there. Great place, great shows, great location. Kinda dark and seedy feeling under an expressway (albeit a very short one), but in an excellent part of town. After the show you could walk across the street to the river, take in the view while pissing in the water, then light up a fatty before hitting the area bars that stayed open until 4 AM.

I 'member hearing of it on the local area radio - as a Baltimoron, though, never ventured there... nor the Cellar Door or any of those other old DC haunts.

Did'ya ever go to the Hollywood Palace..........a club that was in a less than palatial strip mall in Ellicott City,MD (IIRC) ? They had some good bands there from time to time.

The Bayou is where I first saw Weasel, a WHFS DJ, the name was appropriate. The DJ named Cerphe (I always thought it was Surf) is interviewed in the documentary.

...best place for concerts, in late 60's and early 70's, was the Cellar Door. Only held about 200. You were right on top of the performer. Saw Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor and Neil Young, to name a few. Oh the good ole days. Also tickets were like $20.00.

....another great thing about the Cellar Door , was after the late (second) show, the performers and other musicians in town, would gather to jam. Fond memories.

The Cellar Door guys bought the Bayou after the fire marshalls cracked down on the Cellar Door for occupancy violations. The Crazy Horse on M was my favorite bar overall.

Yep, saw Robert Palmer there. It was on Rt.40 in Catonsville.

    Been there too, very small.

Any of you make it to No Fish Today?
