Default Questions about NAD Amps and Preamps

Does NAD make good quality products?

Why does the NAD S250 amp rated at 5 channels and 125 watts retail for the same price as the NAD T973 amp which is rated at 7 channels and 140 watts?

Also, why does the NAD 5 channel S170i preamp retail for $3500, but the 7 channel T163 only retails for $1500? What's up with this?

Yes, they do make good quality products.

The more expensive components you listed is their Silver Line. The silvers are their flagship units which is better quality than their classic line.

Thanks guys. By the way, when you say the Silver Line or series is better, is it better and more expensive because it offers more bells and whistles, or is it better because it produces higher sound quality? Looking at the two amps for example, the S/N ratios seem similiar, but the PT Classic amp is clearly putting out more watts per channel at 8 ohms and 4 ohms, and it has 2 more channels. What does the Silver line amp have other than perhaps better aesthetics, etc?? Trying to figure out the same between the Silver and non Silver preamps as well?

Think of the NAD Silver Series as the "Premium line" products. The regular NAD product line has the gray color scheme and the Silver Series has the white/silver color. Parasound has the same product division with the "Classic" and the "Halo" lines. Higher quality parts and different aesthetics add up to a higher price, but also a bigger pride (ego) of ownership.
