TT feet isolation

I'm sure this question has been asked before somewhere but I'm just wondering do hockey pucks make good isolation pads for TT feet to rest on?
I've seen people that have their TT's on 3" thick cutting boards..
Just wondering.

Not sure about hockey pucks, but these work well and inexpensive.

These are also a cheap option, but not made for the sole purpose of noise dampening isolation like the vibrapod's.

Or do a pepster and cut racquetballs in half. 2 and your done .

I tried vibrapods and sorbothane balls. Ended up using them both.

They have some no slip stuff on top so they are a bit better than hockey pucks

A real hockey puck is way to stiff for anything that doesn't weight hundreds of pounds.

I often use sorbothane half balls from Edmond.

These are very inexpensive and can be used for stacking gear (if you must) $13 for 48 of them. Some places charge $24 for four of them.

This is what I bought for my TT..
Been using them for 3 days and I find them MUCH better than anything else I have used..
I have them upside down, they are a semi-hard rubber not to hard and not to soft..
I notice a big improvment over the combination feltpad/foam or Hockey Puck I tried or thick felt pads..

Carl, those Pex Supply pads are very nice, but I think that they are designed for heaver machines like air conditioners and washing machines.

I sometimes use these "Hemisphere" Sorbothane Bumpers under components that have hard drives or fans. I haven't tried them under the T.T.

This is an interesting thread, I'm investigating the same thing. I'm one of those guys who's going to use a cutting board under my turntable. Actually using a 3.5", 3" just didn't seem beefy enough I got this one from Amazon:

I have a new VPI Traveler arriving tomorrow (just sold my Thorens) which stands on it's own isolation cones, I will place the VPI directly on top of the board. But as an extra precaution, I'm thinking about using something under the cutting board for extra isolation from the glass shelf of the audio rack. I'm thinking that using several of the pads from pexsupply would be ideal, and extremely cheap. Any thoughts?

You might want to use spike feet on the TT and use the pucks as a base.

The turntable has spiked feet, then they even recommend sitting the turntable on a 2" cutting board. I got the 3.5" cutting board. Set it up last night, first thing I noticed is that the cutting board does not sit perfectly flat on the glass shelf. If I flip the board over it is precisely the same, so I'm quite willing to bet that the glass shelf is a bit uneven, likely because the floor is a bit uneven. So I need something to stabilize the board, right now I'm just using a cardboard shim. I bet the vibrapods would work well here or the squares from pex supply.

Well on my daily quest to find things to do audio wise, I went to Home Depot looking for some thick oak or maple but no luck there as they only have 3/4 inch thick and not in the size I needed.
So I was walking around looking for something heavy and hard and the size I needed for my TT.
I came across the tile and hardwood section I explained to the rep what I was looking for he suggested this tile it's porcelain I said its the right size but I'm not sure how that material is for a TT.
I would have to ask my CP buddies about it before I bought a piece.
So what are your thoughts about this material as a base for TT's??
Anyway he gave me that piece as a free sample as long as I come back and let him know if it worked..I guess he would like to use the info as an added selling point of sorts..

They are, but they are the exact same pads that high end audio stores sell for $24 for 4 of them. If you read the description, they are good for up to 50 PSI. The reviews are all from audio enthusiasts who used them for turntables and tube gear.

I use spikes underneath my cutting boards to level it first. It makes it much easier to level the turntable sitting on it.

I ordered from PEX Supply. I didn't get the cork ones, though, I got the EVA ones, which are slightly more expensive, but are supposed to be 3X better than cork for absorbing vibrations. I bought them for the board under the turntable, my tube pre, and my sacd player.
