The add says RTA 12Bs but they do not look like my RTA11TL's. I have seen some strange speakers but nothing that looks like these. I would be temped because they appear to have the peerless tweeter and I want to add something to my collection of polks with the famous peerless tweeter.

P.S: If the craigslist add nullifies this thread then please delete. I want to follow the rules. I figured it would be easier just posting the link with the photo then trying to copy and save the photo.

Ad is right. I feel the price is too high since it doesn't appear the owner has the top hats. I would only be comfortable paying about $150. They're worth roughly $250 in parts alone, but why would you want to part them?


If those are Rosewood like they appear to be, that finish is gorgeous.

IT was the RTA description that got me confused. I am not polk expect but I thought there was only the RTA 8, 11, and 15. I guess I need to google more.

RTA 12 is a TRUE Real Time Alignment, where as the other RTA's use a D'Appolito array which is still excellent but not truly time aligned.

Yes, those are RTA 12Bs. The price, as others have noted, is on the high end but they do not appear for sale as often as some other models. They are great sounding speakers and they look to be in nice shape, although they are misssing the top hat. Why not use that as a negotiating tool and try to get the seller down to the $150-$175 price range? That is the more realistic value. However, in the end, price is what you are able and willing to pay. If you can afford them and they are in excellent working condition, you really cannot go wrong.

On the Rosewood cases...is it vinyl veneer or wood veneer? anyone know. I have vinyl veneer on my Studio Monitor 10's and it is not happiness to my eyes.

I believe it was actual wood veneer. These were a definite step up in build quality over the Monitor series.

If given the opportunity for 150.00 I would probably pick them up, its about 3hrs south for me but it would be a great excuse to hit up the bass pro. How ever with a set of SDA 1C's and RTA 11TL's and monitor 10s I cant really justify another set of speakers. I just thought they looked odd and thought I would get some more info on them.

I used to own a set of these. They are excellent speakers. I actually prefered them with vocals and acoustic instrumentals over the SDA-1Cs I owned at the time. I liked the 1Cs better overall, but they were closer than what you might think. Actually $250 is not a bad price for as good of shape they appear to be in. I would still try to get him down to around $200ish.

Those are one excelent pair of speakers. Dont pass on them over 50/100 bucks. Doubt u can buy better for 300.00 other than 12c's

I own a pair of these and they are great speakers. I prefer them much more to the 1C's. Tonal characteristics closer to the SDA2A/B's. Price is too high especially without the top hats. But as I have said many times the true value is up to the buyer and seller.

Well you all twisted my arm to contact the seller . How would these compare to my SDA 1C's, Monitor 10C's, and RTA 11TLs. If I got these something in this lineup would have to go. I am running out of room and money rather fast here. Plus the wife is not happy with all my speakers all ready.

PS. These appear to be just RTA 12s, not the 12B. Does that make a difference? They look like they have the peerless tweeter.
