    Default Problem with Ebay seller

I purchased some speakers through Ebay. The pictures showed that the speakers were in good shape with no pushed in tweeters. However, when I got them, the speakers were packed with just a little bubble wrap and carpet padding. The tweeters were pushed in. No other damage that I could see and they sound fine.

Should I make a deal out of the tweeters? I've contacted the seller who responded but could not offer any explanation for the pushed in tweeters and also made no comment about the mediocre packing job. I messaged him back and offered him more details and have not heard back from him. He has made no offer to let me return the speakers or offer a partial refund or anything of the sort. Not that that's what I have in mind but he has made no offer to correct the situation.

What's the best way to handle this from this point?

The best thing to do would be to tell him you may require a full refund and that he wont have a hope in hell of a shipping claim with his packaging. If you like the speakers and are willing to overlook the tweeters then tell him you want to make a deal and get the price down on them as you paid for speakers with no depressed tweeter. Figure out what its going to cost him to return the speakers and start from there as your haggling point for a discount

I will message him and see what he thinks about a partial refund. The tweeters are readily available so it wouldn't be a problem to replace them.

If you want to press the issue, PayPal will almost certainly side with you. But you'll likely have to pay the return shipping, and you'll be back where you started, i.e. looking for a pair of speakers.
    My humble setup...

    ...is no more.

Could always file a claim with your credit card as well if they offer it, paypal almost always sides with the buyer as well.

HTG, did you take pics of the boxes as they were shipped to you before__ opening them? Always a good idea to do this, take numerous pics as you unwrap everything. It sucks to get damaged goods, I've had this kind of thing happen before to me. Have to ask what kind of feedback did this seller have? Good luck with this .

I started taking pics as soon as I opened the box and realized how poorly they were packed. If the seller offers to give me a partial refund, I'll be very happy. The tweeters still seem to work fine but hate that they're pushed in. It would be more worth it for me to just buy replacement tweeters than to ship the speakers back.

Try to get the partial refund and fix pushed in tweeters w duct tape by just touching pushed in area and pull out. Works with any sticky tape. Go slow and try not to crease it. Good luck.

Worst case scenario - wrap those speakers back in that bubble wrap, put them back in senders' box, and ship them back AFTER paypal confirms that they will give you a full refund. You will be out a cost of return shipping though. I got screwed once like that. A pair of $600 speakers, $300 to ship them, came in damaged (two damaged corners and scratches on the sides). Wasn't worth shipping them back. For paypal, it was all or nothing, no partial refund.

If these were a good deal, and you really like the speakers then keep them. Like somebody said, returning them will cost you. Try fixing them by CAREFULLY using a vacuum attachment or a piece of blue masking tape. This works most of the time. Post some pics!

Hello, I was just thinking of buying some last night. Instead I joined these forums. Looking for car audio and was a little scared to buy anything online.
