Default Conrad Johnson MF2500A, Is it a common ground amp?

Hi everyone. New forum member but longtime Polk owner. Bought a pair of SDA-2B's new back in late 80's from HiFi buys. Then bought a new pair of monitor 5jr's and a new pair of mini montors again from HiFi buys. Then in the 90's sometime I bought a CS350 center channel. What an awesome HT setup I had in the days of dolby pro-logicII. Problem is later on I sold the SDA's. Big Mistake. My HT set up still uses all my original speakers along with some used 11t RTA I picked up for my mains.

Feeling the need, I just purchased a Mint pair of SDA-2's with real wood cabs. Not a blemish. Any ways these are power hungry. I never knew about the common ground issue before. Just got lucky I guess with my earlier SDA-2b's when i used my Proton D1200 to power them (nostalgic sonic bliss). Iam looking at purchasing a Conrad Johnson MF2500A solid state amp. Good reviews with plenty of power, and smooth highs for the sl1000 tweets. Does anyone know if amp is common ground. I left a message for the manufacturer but have not heard back. Thanks for any help.

I am sure it is. I have a MF2200 that I have ran my SDA 1C's with. I love my MF 2200! I have a PV 2 CJ tube pre that is an awesome combo w/ the MF2200. You will be happy!

Cool, I hope so. My current amp is a Counterpoint SA-12 which was great with my old Klipsch Heresy's, but lacks the punch needed for the SDA-2's. I am using a Audio Research LS7 for my Pre so I hope the CJ will pair well and give the umph I need along with some sweet mids and highs. Thanks for your feedback

Congrats on the speakers. And welcome to the forum. Your info doesn't say; what area of the country are you from.

Do you have a multi-meter? You can measure the resistance between the negative binding posts and it should be close to zero.

Yes, I live in Powder Springs Ga. I could not test the Amp as I am eagerly awaiting it's arrival from Miami. I purchased on audiogon from a dealer who took it in trade.

didn't notice before that you joined in 2010. anyway, welcome to posting and hope you enjoy your speakers. There was actually a guy on here a week or so ago trying to sell some of the SDA 2's in near mint shape from around Atlanta. you may have picked them up. If so i hope you didn't pay his asking price. good luck with the amp and welcome back to the land of SDA. It's addictive.

yes, I did buy them. And they are in mint shape. literally could not find a mark on the cabinets. Does anyone know the wood veneer that Polk used. Can't tell if it's walnut or what. Anyway, very nice. All they needed was little orange oil to bring out the color.
