    Default 5.1 or 2.2

I am debating if I should change my system in my family room.

My current setup is an Onkyo tx-sr304, with Rt400, cs245i, paradigm dipole surrounds and an HSU sub.

Equipment setting around is a Cambridge Audio azur 540a series 2, azur 540c series 2, Vienna Acoustics Bachs, and
    two REL q201e subwoofers.

    Thoughts?

I run a 3.2 and really enjoy it. I find that a quality center speaker does add to my ability to hear dialogue with more clarity. And two or more subwoofers will always be a part of my theater setup. Bass is everywhere instead of to one side of the room. I would recommend a CS400 for your center. I used to own the CS245i and then the CS400i. Big difference.

    Two Channel Setup:

    Speakers: Wharfedale Opus 2-3
    Integrated Amp: Jolida JD1502
    CD Player: Jolida JD200
DAC for Computer Music: Peachtree Dac it x
    Turntable: Rega P5 - TT-PSU
    Cartridge: Clearaudio Aurum Beta Wood
Phono Preamp: Musical Surroundings Phonomena II

    3.2 Home Theater Setup:

    Fronts: Polk LSiM 703s
    Center: Polk LSiM 703
    Subs: SVS PB 12 NSD X 2
    AVR: Yamaha Aventage RX-A2030
    Blu Ray: Sony BDP-S790

Too big for my space. Looks nice and I am sure it sounds good.

Loud n Clear, how big is your room with the 3.2 and does 3.2 still work well with a larger room?

Smallish area. If I moved the gear into a different room I would almost certainly employ surrounds. Would 3.2 work in a larger room? I don't see why not. I also believe that if you can do it, that using a bookshelf speaker in its native orientation is preferable to a 'center' speaker. I use a short stand that angles slightly upwards at the front to aim the speaker to ear level.
