    Default Tower surrounds?

Is it a bad idea to have towers up front and towers as rear surround also? Example, matching LS90's for my setup
    My SETUP

    AVR: Denon 1913
    Main L/R: Polk LS90's
    Center: Polk CS350LS
    Side Surrounds: Polk LS/FX's
    Rear Surrounds: Polk RT/FX's
    Subwoofer: Polk PSW300

No, it's not a bad idea. It's a very good idea.
I have 42" tall towers as my side surrounds and it sounds NICE.

Nice. Does it play louder in the rear like that compared to smaller rears?

That depends upon efficiency of the speakers.
Also, you can control volume levels to side/rear surrounds in the receiver.

It doesn't play louder but I think it is has a much fuller sound with the larger speakers.

No, use your receiver to set the volume.

Towers will definitely have better bass than smaller surrounds, but almost no bass ever gets sent to surrounds anyway. I would prefer dipoles or bipoles to towers because they create a more dispersed, enveloping sound. Plus you have more placement options with smaller surrounds (above ear level).

Try messing around with the settings in your receiver before you go buying towers for the sides. I think you might just need to increase the channel level to your surrounds.

Yea I just thought it be nice to have more bass in the back(for the times bass does get sent to the back) but im fine with smaller ones for now...is it good to place rear and side surrounds above ear level?
