I wanted to share my enthusiasm for my latest pickup - a Boston Acoustic VR12 center channel!
I found it in great shape in the local CL- It came packed in its original box, plastic, and packaging. The only damage is some small water coloring on the grille - the grille was left off the speaker and in the box in the original owner's basement and some water dripped in. Otherwise everything is in great shape.
It's a big guy - 25" wide and easily 40lb. It sits under my projection screen on top of two other speaker cabs for now.
it's got 2 6.5" woofers, a 4" midrange in the center, right under a dome tweeter. It's about 90db efficient so it matches well with the Boston Acoustic A200s I have as my L and R in the system now.
I've only watched a couple of shows on it - 1 5.1 Blu-ray and some Netflix streaming. I need some more time to compare but I have to say I'm feeling some fuller bass in the front, and I don't think the bass is from my PSW10, which is boomier with movies. Voices are clear and out of the box. I used to have a Polk Monitor 5Jr+ (not the ported one, but with the PR) as my center. After I recapped it I really liked it - when demoing for music it was amazing - full midrange and great highs from the SL2500. I'll be interested to keep trying this VR12 and seeing if I can feel the difference. The general consensus on the forums is that this is one of the best center speakers Boston Acoustics ever produced.
I'm not getting rid of the Polk Monitor 5Jr+ yet - after I mod my Monitor 7Bs maybe I'll hold on to it for another 5.1 system!
