Default Tonight, I fell in love

...with my Ushers again. The last few months something has been off and it's been killing me trying to fix it. When I'd fix one issue, the fix would cause another issue. I've done just about every combo I can with all my gears all the way down to every tube I own and moving the speakers incrementally to a foot or two in or out. To say its been a fun ride would be a lie - it pisses me off when I know my system isn't at optimal performance.

Anyways, last night I switched the el84 in my pre from a vintage holland to the new Chinese one. I then moved the speakers wider but further into the room. Rumors sounded awesome last night, and now I'm completely engrossed in Vivaldi. The center image has been weak for the past month and I finally fixed it with no detrimental effects. The ushers have never sounded this good. I'm ready for all you hoodlums come January now.

DSkip, I fell in love with my setup again the day I replaced the 12 gauge with the Canare speaker cabling...the musical improvement was stunning, like I got a new pair of speakers all over again. Impressive how a simple small change can have a dramatic effect on a system.

It's when you made the right decisions in your rig.
Nice man now you just need a nice RiverHorse Oatmeal Milk Stout to complete a fun filled relaxing night along with a good woman on your side.

Sometimes just budging a speaker a couple of inches can make a big difference. I love the sound of speakers out IN the room, but it's just not practical unless you have a dedicated audio listening room.

I hear ya man. The issue was that I knew my system sounded better than the sound I have been getting because I had heard it sound better. Trying to find the biggest culprit was a major pita.

Even with a dedicated room it can be a bit difficult. The ushers are heavy and I could pull them out more I would, but I also have to mind the pj screen for movies as well. I truly feel I finally found the best placement I've had with them now. It seems to have smoothed out the lower end for a more natural sound.
