    Red face Proton D1200 - Julian Hirsch - Stereo Review V51 1986

I am looking for a review on the Proton D1200 amplifier done by Julian Hirsch - Stereo Review V51 1986 (page 47 - possibly 2 or 3 pages long). Does anyone have a digital copy of this to share?

I have been looking for online pdf's of the Stereo Review issues and only found the very old ones from the late 50's and early 60's (Hi-Fi Review).

    Thanks

No I do not, But I had a pair of these amps...real power houses. I used them in a bridged mode to power my 2 subs. Awsome to look at too. Big watt power meters on the front. Sadly though, they were stolen during our move from Ca. to NV. Broke into our storage, took my 2 amps, Proton Pre-amp and proton CD player...A very sad day indeed.
Good Luck on your quest for that info.

    Hey Don,

Mine is a bridgeable one. Not all of the Proton D1200 amps were bridgeable. I bought mine from an guy in PA who was an architect. He was the only owner. I bought it and a Nad preamp together from Craigslist about 3 years ago. I also have a Proton Pre, but I actually prefer the sound of the Nad pre. Love that Proton D1200 amp. It is a monster for power! LOUD! LOUD! LOUD! I have a set of Sound Dynamics 1500 Concert Monitor speakers and a Velodyne FSR-18" subwoofer to go with the Proton. Hard not to bust a move (or an eardrum).

Here is a link to the SD 1500 CM speakers:

Sorry to hear about your amps being stolen. That is a bad and sad day indeed. Man, that would really piss me off.

Thanks for the info ken99......After losing my Proton equip I replaced the amps with Parasound HCA 1500 4 each and one Parasound HCA 3500 amp, Parasound 850 pre. Still have them, They are awsome amps. But! I miss the Protons.
I recently built 2 ea. S.e.t amps. 2 mono amps in one case (total of 4 mono amps in 2 cases). I'm using them to drive a JBL horn and polk Sl 2000 high freq driver. The HCA 3500 amp drives my RTA 12c mid & low freq drivers and I have the HCA 1500 amps (Bridged) driving 2ea. DVC 15" subwoofers and the 3rd HCA 1500 driving a 3rd SVC Sub.
    Good Talking with ya!

You can order a photocopy from Roger Russell. I believe it's $7.00. The Proton D1200 was reviewed September 1986 in Stereo Review. HTH
