Red face Space sticks food?(Old farts please help)

Cfrizz, steve, and anybody else in our age bracket might remember these things. They were touted as astronaut breakfast food, they came out in the late 60's/ early 70's, and were individually wrapped. Some of the flavors were chocolate, peanut butter, vanilla...
    I can't remember the name?

I think they were called SPACE FOOD STICKS, "The final candy frontier" looked like tootsie rolls?

I remember the drink of astronauts, Tang. Also, what do get when you mix prune juice and Tang? Prune tang.

    Sorry, it's nostalgia night.

As a kid, I loved those sticks. Wonder what they really tasted like. Precursor to energy bars of today.

They were grose. Tasted like chalky tootsie rolls. Not as chewy as tootsie rolls though.

I'm with BlueFox -- I remember the Tang more than I remember the food sticks. But I do think it's a little amusing that you can get them again, if you want them for some reason...

Along the same lines, I remember mail-ordering a Fisher 'Space Pen' when I was a kid, supposedly the same pen used on the space flights. It had a pressurized refill to work in zero gravity, so it would write upside-down here on Earth as well.

Oh geez, I just checked: http://www.spacepen.com/

Is that the same as poon tang? Tastes good!

I do remember the spacefood sticks though - had them in my lunches...peanut butter was the best - and that wasn't saying much.

Stop that, BlueFox, you're killing me! I'm going to bust a gut here!

As for spacepens, I have one that I use to write notes in bed with. I've always found it quite useful!

I don't remember the food sticks, bars or whatever they were? But if you look at my "location" you can see my spoofing the Chinese space program and remembering the L.E.M. We had a guy in High School named Lem and we got hours or amusement messing with him (he was a friend, though).

Space Food Sticks, made by Pillsbury---yes I remember them well

Story: when I was around 10'ish or so (1972) I had a friend whose Dad worked for Pillsbury in STL. He had a HUGE space food sticks display in the basement, filled with....you guessed it, Space Food Sticks. I ate myself sick of those things, not to mention the ensuing constipation that can only be equalled by Army MRE cheese spread...LOL
