Default Candy Display Counter for Home Theater room

Hey folks i'm looking to purchase a candy display counter for my home theater room or possibly even make one out of something I can purchase at the local Home Depot/Menards/Lowes.....

Not looking for anything toooooooooo big, maybe in the neighborhood of 36"W x 12"D x 36"H (approximately but i'm very flexible)

Any ideas out there......post a picture of yours if you have one or make a suggestion...

Looking to stay in the <$400 range (but im a little flexible here to)

anyone have one with a nice glass display or a lighted one?

looking for some ideas or to purchase one...

    Thanks
    Juan

If you google 'theater concession stands' you'll prolly get several hits. I just looked, and they're about $1,600

Best off making your own or hire someone to do it for you.

I know, that pricetag scares me...my budget is around the $400 range. Thats why I was looking for ideas to see if someone purchased a stock cabinet from their local hardware store and modified it to look like the $1600 stands.

Local auctions or business closings might be a good place to look..

Try using searchtempest.com (searches all CL sites within a given area for specific terms) to scour CL.

Can you post a picture of what you want it to look like? Might help us get an idea.....

Why not just make a island/counter and put candy dishes on it with your different candy in it? Or get a DIY shelving system with small pull out wire shelves with each row of candy boxes lined up?

I realy want a cabinet style case or something enclosed, because it would look a little better in my theater room..but the wire shelves have crossed my mind.

I don't think its for storing candy to eat all the time, just for the theater look-display, thats what I am thinking, like movie posters, pop corn popper on wheels, etc just saying...

Do you have a local plastic shop? We have TAP Plastics here on the West Coast, and they will make custom plexiglass anything; I've had them do a few things for work and home. My guess is the cost of materials plus labor at a similar shop would be less than any commercial offering, and it would be exactly what you want.

the top one should be easy to make, open display if you are handy and have the tools, have someone make it for you would probably cost more than $400 including material , open display,

You are exactly right, its primary function is looks...Although I have a 7 and a 5 year old that would beg to differ :).

All im doing is adding a little more detail to my theater room, I already have the popcorn maker, etc....

I think this would look super cool in a theater room as it has that kinda novelty commercial charm to it. Where did you find it?
