Default Are shipping MONITORS a normal problem ?

Ok. Ill try to make this easy.... I ordered Monitor 5jr got them 1 froze up tight. 1 slight scratchiness------ today i got Monitor 7's 1 froze up tight as a 2by4-----is this a big problem with shipping these----- both of sellers have credited me but what a PAIN IN THE ARS..... Ive got Monitor 10's coming tomorrow and i hope like heck there not bad..... I am waiting to order direct to polk to replace all these as i think they might be able to ship better...i have not asked sellers to remove drivers as im not sure that would fly..is this a normal problem? Or just my luck?--or do the sellers know they are not working properly so the ditch them?

The short answer is YES! Most members here would RATHER not ship Polk Classic Monitor series (or SDAs for that matter) because those 6.5 inch speakers are OLD and it is EASY for the magnets to shift or even fall off. Most people JB weld their magnets to the body to make sure that does not happen once they have some in hand.

Both of my Monitors were "personal" pick ups. And I transported them myself, as suggested: On their backs, speaker driver face up. Even getting them yourself you have to be careful, any SUDDEN jolts can cause the problem you've encountered.

Sorry about your problems, but you should be able to find drivers here, but that adds to your initial costs.

Asking the sellers to remove the drivers and ship them SAFELY wrapped and PROTECTED is a much better recourse than leaving them in the cabs. I've had old replacement drivers shipped to me this way, fine!

Sounds like a racket to me - gettin' a nice discount on all the speakers you're gettin' sent to you! Nice way to cut down on your actual cash outlay, no?

Wha'cha doin' up there, Randy, hoardin' all the vintage Monitors? Got the 4, 4.5, 5, and 12 covered yet?

Attachment 84200Yes that is something down the road/upgrading tweets. Yes Cnh those are the wifes. She wont part with them. I came home tuesday and she listens to them on the Marantz. She is very gentle with my equipment so i guess i can deal with her keeping them. And if you remember right i got those as a bonus for a job i did on equipment work i did for him. He used them 6 months put a plant pot on top and it slightly overflowd then put them in closet in 1991-2 then he bought BOSE and The Klipsch i always wanted them back then before i got into light stereo hobby 3 years ago----if you notice the top on right speaker you will see..they still need to be redone but overall they arent too bad..and hooked to the Marantz it does a fine job..

The monitor 10's have normal scratches and dings but for old speakers i guess that is expected..dont let pictures fool ya
