Will it get cheaper if less people buy it?

That's what I want next. A whole house generator that runs off natural gas. I have a client who puts them in.

Doesn't guarantee it will if more do either. Look at the amount of people buying gasoline. Point being is these types of things always have a honeymoon period. When enough people hop on board, electricity rates will go bonkers and added taxes will be thrown in. Which in the end will eliminate any savings you first had. Enjoy your honeymoon.

That's exactly the reason I will be installing solar panels next.

If you want 54 to 63 MPG you'll have to buy a Hybrid. A regular gas car is not going to give you that.

I'll buy it if he can guarantee that'll work.

The Level 1 charger that came with the car won't work if you use an extension cable. It knows.

I picked up my Old car today, All fixed up. Drives nice and straight. Brakes feel a little mushy, I think that's because I'm getting used to my New Car.

So I stole my parking spot back under a shade tree in front of my house and washed the car today and then my new one. The Old car is listed on the insurance as being used only 2000 miles per year.

The guy at Hyundai said the work without the recall would have been $2500.00, 2 New Lower control arms, Lower Sub-Frame taken off, cleaned, painted, filled with wax. Two new Axles, lots of connecting pieces going to the Lower control arms and sway bar.

Rotors are a year old, Brakes are 8 months old, Tires are 4 months old. It has 155K miles, at 180K it needs a timing belt and water pump. At 2K miles a year it'll be 12 years till I have to do that work! LOL

The New Leviton Level 2 charger has been doing Great! It charges the New Car really fast. My Car can only handle 6.6KWper hour but the Leviton can put out 9.6KW per hour!, Good for future use.

    http://www.leviton.com/OA_HTML/Produ...minisite=10251

I want to see if I can find an adaptor to go from my Level 2 J1772 plug to my Level 3 connector on my car then I can charge the car at 9.6KW per hour. That'll charge the car from Zero to 100% in 2.3 Hours.

But I'm not sure if that's possible.

Great car choice! Few people at my office drive them. One of them proudly displays a "2011 World Car of the Year" sticker in the rear window.

If I had a house, I'd be tempted to get one myself for a commuter so I can keep this as my weekend warrior:

And yes I did just fill up with a tank of 100 octane for $7.79/gallon there.

Very Nice car! with those prices of gas you might as well buy a Tesla S!!! Zero to 60 in 4.2 secs

It'll cost you $10 in Electricity to get 240 miles of range

I will be looking at both my 02 Elantras to see if there is any corrosion this weekend.
There is not a recall for Texas cars I guess since less chance of road salts, in Houston for sure.

Yeah, no Mercy on the dudes wallet for repairs.

Anyway, got another question for ya Sal. Hows the insurance rates for electric cars as compared to gas ? I know your other car was older so that isn't going to be a fair comparison. Just curious if your insurance guy said anything about why it would cost more or be cheaper.

Yeah, you have to go back to between 1988 and 1991 to get 64MPG using just gasoline (no hybrid). Tha is, the Honda CRX HF will get 64 MPG (Hwy.) and 55MPG (city). It's a gas from the past.

Yeah but a 1988 to 1991 car will have 200K miles on it now. Will it still give you that MPG?, My Hyundai used to give me 30MPG and now it's 20.5MPG

I am trying to figure out why the massive decrease in MPG on your Elantra mine an 02 hatchback automatic gets 28.2-30.1 on my 34 miles city/hwy work trip consistently.
Now I can say that Exxon regular gets me almost a full 2 mpg more than Shell regular
I think it's that the ethanol is 10% in the Shell gas.

With any car or truck an increase of speed will result in lower gas mileage due to the fact you are pushing air out of the way faster it just takes more power/gas .
The speed you want to drive is just fast enough to get the car in it's top gear, in my case about 40.
Just allow plenty of time to get where you are going and hope you don't get rear ended in Texas by Bubba's big truck.

Yeah, so it makes me wonder why they aren't currently making a car that gets 64MPG or better gasoline cars?

Gasoline eventually will go the way of the dodo (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodo) Bird.

I'm sure 50 years from now you'll be able to get Gasoline to power your Antique 2014 Car but primarily people will use electricity.

Either Charged at home, Charged on the go by solar cells that cover every square inch of the car's surface or by some chemical conversion with plain water and aluminum.

The Tesla with its 85KW Battery can be fully charged in 9 hours at home and give you 250 to 300 miles range and only cost you $10.00 in electricity.

Add solar panels and you can get rid of that $10 entirely. Sure the technology is still very young and costs a lot but in 10 years I bet Tesla will have a 40K car and every single manufacturer will also have a plug-in vehicle that gets 116MPGe

Gonna disagree with ya Sal on gasoline going the way of the dodo. Unless another energy source is found/made to be as abundant I highly doubt it. Electricity for cars is what we like to call a niche market right now. Given we have such a bug up our arses about nuclear power plants and coal fired plants, where do you think all this electricity will come from ? Lightning rods ?

Even if electricity use went north at a good clip, you think rates would be cheaper ? No Sir., they would skyrocket to make up for the lost revenue from gasoline. Just being real Sal, solar/wind/electric even combined isn't enough to replace gasoline/oil as a primary energy source. May help to reduce dependency, grant you, but replace.....your dreaming pal.
