    LMAO !!

Agree though.......Sal, I dunno man, parking armor ? Really ? In my town you'd receive the label of "dork" if anyone saw that.

Maybe it's a good thing anyway, at least your admitting you can't park worth a crap.

I can park perfectly fine, It's all the a$$holes that don't give a 5hit and hit every new car just because they are jealous that their lame job doesn't pay enough so that they can afford a new car.

LOL....well Sal, then maybe it's time to move to a place that sports a slightly higher class of people. I'm thinking a few notches above the Honey Boo-boo crowd at least.

Truth of the matter is, anyone who see's that on your car is going to be drawn to it like a magnet.

I'm going to pursue getting this done as well. That company Webasto has a dozen authorized installers listed from 3 miles from my house to 30 miles. So I have a bunch of places to get quotes from.

with the roof open you will encounter wind resistance which will effect your driving range, shorten it. I have a moon roof on my
vehicle and vary rarely use it, noisy when open, lets the sun in on hot summer days, shade is only open during winter months or
in the evening. Shade closed during the summer. for me $$$ not well spent.
what does it cost to instal that moon roof?

Just spent $70 in gas, and had to fill up 3 times last week. Gas hit $4.33 here because of the local refineries taken offline for "maintenance". First time Oklahoma has ever been above the national average instead of well below it. Meh.

That model is around $1500 installed. The guy who had it installed has it around 8 months and he has said that he has not seen any decrease in his range.

I think the electricity is costing me around $68 a month, that gets me 1500 miles. I'm not 100% sure yet, reading my electrical bill is tough to figure out because I pay an equal payment plan and there is an additional balance going forward that gets bigger and bigger.

That's 4.5 cents per mile, My ICE car costs me around 16 cents a mile.

I think I hit about 300 miles per tank of 16 gallons. Wife gets near 480 on the same 16 gallons and essentially the same car (smaller engine). Oh this summer is going to cost me. My friend has had a LEAF for 8 months and loves it.

Between me and my wife with our old cars we would spend at least 5 grand a year on gas, maybe 6 grand.

Now we'll be at around $600 in electricity and $1500 in gas for my wife's car. So 3 to 4 thousand savings per year.

I just ordered this Custom License Plate Frame, Solid Brass, Chrome Plated and the letters deep engraved and then Enamel painted.

    What do you think?

I think it'll look good with my UBUYGAS License plate (if it ever shows up!)

So lets see, you buy an electric car to save money, then blow it on bumper guards, personalized plates and a brass plate holder. Maybe a sunroof too and the upgraded charger.

If I was you I would make that amount the electricity cost you interchangeable. It's only going to cost you more as time goes on, but you can still save a few bucks now anyway.

No spinners.....brass fuzzy dice to match the plate ? Maybe add some hydraulics so you can hop, skip and jump down the road. Least you could do is add some neon around the plate.

Don't need to soup it up. When I want to peel out and race I'll just take it out of ECO mode.

Subsidized sales....like cash for clunkers. Is that something we are supposed to go "Yeah Baby" over Sal ? Glad your diggin' your new wheels bro, seriously, I just have a problem with my tax money going to you to entice you to buy a car. Where as if the car was something you wanted, none of my tax money would be needed. See where I'm coming from ?

Kinda like if they gave you 1000 bucks to go buy a new 3g smart Fridge from LG. Doesn't mean the LG Fridge is the end all be all, would just mean people wanted something for nothing.

Now if the dealer themselves wanted to afford you those rebates out of their pockets alone, that's a different story. Nothing personal pal, and I am seriously glad your digging your new wheels.

Is it your Tax money?, I'm pretty sure it's my tax money coming back to me. I pay a lot taxes, it's about time they give me some back.

The car is something I wanted, I started to research it 6 months ago and I said to myself that I will buy it when my old car dies.

Same thing when I bought my house, the President gave me back $8500, I didn't buy my house because of the tax break, I just happened to buy it when they had that program.

So, I don't understand where you're coming from. Well maybe I do, But that will involve politics and I don't want to talk about politics here. because I'm not getting my thread deleted because you're not happy.

I think they should get the money to fund this from all the people that think they have to go buy a Car or Truck with 300+ horsepower. We have people in Texas that drive one ton 4 door extended cab pickup trucks and SUV that look like the space shuttle just to drive to and from work. Let these folks fund the programs to offset their waste.

Waste of what ? Are we out of gasoline ? It's their money, let them spend it how they wish. Choice my friend, the more the merrier.

Just like Sal has a choice to buy an electric car, others should have a choice to buy a pickup truck or whatever. Everyones happy....not force people's habits. Just sayin'.

Well I agree choice is a good thing just let them help in another way to reward
those who are trying to help, say like $50 tax on a new car or truck sale
    that's less than 25mpg.

Of course another thing being brought up is how much impact does it have on the
environment to make those special batteries.

I know people that drive those big trucks and they like to say "Yield to Tonnage"
They actually admit that they enjoy intimidating people on the road and that's one
of the reasons they drive them, ah yes Texas

There are 62,000 Leaf's worldwide with 400LBS batteries each. Do those batteries take up more space or less than the 6 Billion Batteries that come from Mobile devices every 2 to 3 years?

I read a story that says that Nissan is selling the "dead" batteries to other companies. Companies that will reuse the batteries for solar/home use applications. That only the units that are completely dead will be destroyed, the ones with 50% capacity have other uses for other companies.

I also read that there are plans for home kits, Kits where I can take my 8 year old 50% capacity Leaf battery and install it in my basement to store solar energy from my roof. Wouldn't that be something?

That would be cool then you can just buy a new battery for your car when the time comes and use the old one to help power the house.

Um...intimidation ? Maybe some morons but as a whole....no way. That sign is ment for other drivers to be aware. Aware of what ? Having driven trucks myself, I can tell you first hand most do not realize a truck can not turn like a car, can't back up like a car and most importantly...can't STOP like a car. Not to mention the incredible amount of blind spots. So "yield to the tonnage" means give them some space, don't ride their arse or cut them off.

Now for batteries, Sal...I understand that these batteries lose charging ability over time. Have you dug into what it cost to replace these batteries ? I would imagine there is also no spare tire either, where would you put it ?
