    Default Polk atrium connection

Hi all, got the atrium 6 the other day, really impressed, I had also dished out a small fortune on banana plugs to be fitted to the cable, and unfortunately they don't fit, because there is not enough space to go under and up into the female connection terminals .....really annoying, so I've just unscrewed the connections slightly and placed bare wire into the hole and tightens them up again(which is what is advised in the manual, but had thought that the plugs would be more secure....,..my question is...

I know the speakers are weatherproof, but is a simple connection like what I have now had to do, going to be safe, I'm worried about when it rains, water trailing into the back of the speaker and so where the connector are based and causing a problem with the connection.

Any help or advice is always welcome.... Thankyou god bless.

If you really worried about a short, simply wrap some electrical tape a few time around the terminals. Just leave a little tab, so that about once a year you can remove it easily, and retighten the connection.

It'll be safe, but the bare copper will oxidize. Better to tin the ends with high silver content quailty solder. Oxidized silver is still an excellent conductor.

    Spades might work as well.
