Default RT25I Yard Sale Score. I'm lovin' em!

So i just nabbed some rt25i's for $55 at a yard sale and wasn't expecting much as they only sounded "fair" at the guy's house. Now that i have them hooked up at home to some real power, I cannot believe how good they are! They seem to be head and shoulders better than my rtia1's. Better lows, crisper highs and bigger soundstage. Am I smoking something or are they good speakers?

I bought these to sell (at cost) to my sister in law but i don't know if i can part with them. She turned down my rtia1's for $100 so she probably won't want these either. Problem solved. lol.

Those were given some best in class awards in their day. Oddly, I never owned them or even heard them. I say oddly because I owned the 35is, 55is, & 800is, and I'm pretty sure I heard the powered towers as well.

I have a pair I use in small 2ch system with tubes and the midrange is to die for. Highs are sweet and crisp and a surprisingly amount of realistic bass. Definitely one of the best in it's class. Those tweeters in the RTxxi series were excellent. Better than the RTixx series, IMO.

well, i a/b tested the rt28i vs my rtia1 and i now give the a1's an edge, if ever so slight. I was fooled into thinking the rt28i were better than they actually were due to an unusually good recording i was unfamiliar with (AIC unplugged). Still a very good speaker! I think these will stay with me for awhile (maybe not).

I also tested my lsi7's on the 7000 and i noticed they really sound bad with 1/3 less continuous power. I honestly thought the rti's sound better with 150 wpc than the 7's did with 50 wpc. I'm sure this is a "duh" moment for the old timers.

    Well done.

I love my RT25i 2-channel setup with tubes. As already stated, they have fantastic midrange and soundstage.
