    Default Questions about Marantz receivers

If you were to have a 1 hundred plus watt marantz receiver could you hook them to sda's that need common ground? Thanks in advance

You should have no problem connecting a Marantz or any other brand receiver to a speaker or switchbox with a common ground. It is only amplifiers that are natively of bridged design or stereo amps operated in bridged mode that must not be connected to a common ground. The unit's owner's manual would always include such a warning. I don't know of any mass market receivers that are of bridged design.

Thanks. I was just windering if anyone has ever used a big Marantz on SDA speakers. And if it would work from what i remember they need to be a common ground amp & at least 50 watts....so i was wondering how they would sound if someone had lets say the Marantz 2375 which i think is 175 wpc & how it might work. I wasnt sure the receiver was a common ground. Just a thought--thanks---randy

Boston, I have never owned Marantz receivers but I currently use a Yamaha CR 2020 receiver (105 watts) to drive my SDA 2B TL speakers and the Yamaha does a wonderful job.

Thank you. I like the Marantz receivers and i like the SDA2bs..i use to have sda's and i might look into a bigger receiver and the thought of using sda's on that. But ive heard different thoughts on this topic before & i couldnt remember. That must be some receiver there. I like YAMAHA's----thanks. Randy

2385 and the Polks would be a great combo. I've played my 2325 with my SDA's and they sounded great.

Didn't you have a set of SDA 2Bs a while back? And if so, what gives? Why did you get rid of them only to buy another set just like them? Usually, people trade up when the sell SDAs or they move on to something they like even more?

Yes. We had 2 houses. We sold the Augusta house and most of the contents. We had the Klf's in our house now and i made a mistake and sold them. Along with the rta15tl's. im sure you recall seen those for sale..YES and i should not have. I have to say im not much of a HORN lover. But i have talked my wife into getting rid of them..so im waiting to hear back on the sda's....i missed out on a local sale of a NICE marantz 2385 that sold for 700.00 which i couldnt believe.....

    That's a classic. I had a CR2020 I purchased in 1977 or 78.
