    Default LSI9 top speakers rattling.

I have only had these LSI9's for a couple of years and the top speaker of both the left and right speakers are rattling. is there some kind of warranty on these speakers, or where can I find replacement speakers?

Should be a 5 year warrenty if you bought them from authorized dealers. If not you should still get ahold of polk audio and see what they think the problem is and see how much parts can be had for if possible. Also theres LSi9s on ebay all the time. Also Polk Direct (Polks ebay site) had LSi9s a few week ago but only 2 pairs.

I just found the recipe. I purchased them from Sound Distributors on Ebay about a year ago. http://stores.ebay.com/Sound-Distributors

It would appear that you have the full 5 year warranty from Polk, so give them a call.

What are you driving them with and how loud did you have the volume that caused both speakers to fail?

    Carver A-400x http://www.carversound.com/carver-amplifiers/a-400x/

-5 on the Pioneer sc25 receivers volume. Nothing higher than usual. When I went back to watching TV I noticed the stacic type sound coming from the top speakers.

rattling or static? I find it odd that both speakers are doing this, i suspect something other than the speakers could be the culprit. I'm not trying to disprove you, just trying to make sure you get the right thing fixed.

This all probably moot as the customer service person will troubleshoot this with you. good luck and let us know what it ends up being.

It is more like the sound is breaking up. I notice it more if I put my ear right up to the top speaker.

I tried different audio sources with the same results. I tried connecting speakers to the Pioneer sc25 receiver with out the carver, same results.

I was playing them loud before I noticed the problem, I didn't feel I was over driving the speakers, but I do think the volume level caused the problem. I played them at this volume level many times in the past year that I have had these speakers without any problem

    Are your jumpers/speaker wires tight?

I checked all connections. I don't notice much at low volume levels when watching TV, but when I raise the volume level the distortion becomes very noticeable in the mid range drivers.

I've never gone past -10 on my SC-37 (no power amp), but I don't use it for music.

After I get the replacement drivers, I will be afraid to go past -10

I have a volume limit on my receiver I can set for -10. I had it set for 0.0 but never went that high.

I don't know if the volume numbers are the same for your sc and my Yamaha and yes I know they are 2 different brands but when I went down to -9/10 the avr clipped and went into protection mode.My average tv is about -29/32. This made me get the Adcom 555 before going all w/ all seperates.
