Some of my best memories involved Bose products during the late 80s to early 90s. In a matter of fact, they are still working as it did from day one, decades ago.

If I were to open my company that produce mediocre products, Bose's marketing department would be ideal. It has proven itself over time. I also stand behind their noise canceling headphones as the best. Sound quality is a different story. But in a noisy environment, what kind of sound quality could you get if you can't hear the music?

Full disclosure: I had my whirl with Bose Speakers long ago. Today, I would not spend a penny on any of their speakers.

Two Bose products caught my attention.

    Acoustic Wave Cannon

One of these was installed in a very small dance club with low ceilings at Sandals Resort Mo' Bay, Jamaica back in '96. I mean there was no room on the floor or ceiling for large sub cabinets. This thing was tight in the upper bass and THUMPED the lows just right for this sized club. I thought it was a clever bass solution for this particular system. I have heard worst bass in some other small dance clubs than what this delivered in that room.

    L1 Portable System

A band was using one of these on stage at the MGM Grand Casino in Detroit on a very busy weekend back in early 2000. I was a long way from the stage and the projection of this system was much better than the "house" system. This line array was cutting right though the noise of the casino. As I got closer the clarity of the voice and guitar out of this was much better and more natural sounding than the "house" system. The most impressive sound I heard on that stage during the two years I work there.

901s with stereo every where? Not what I heard on the few pairs I have heard. Yes you can hear stuff from the left and right speaker anywhere in the room, but there is no imaging, everything is everywhere. There is no center image, even when sitting between them, it's just a wall of sound with stereo indifference to the left or right.
