    Default Surroundbar 4000 IHT

    I recently purchased this unit on 3/28/13 and just now have had the opportunity to hook it up. First problem was the optical plug would not accept the optical cable. Turned it upside down and pieces of plastic fell out. Used the RCA jacks instead, but no sound. Shout off TV speakers and still no sound. I am in a quandary as to what to do. Need help big time!!!

    Hello bpkamrath,
    Welcome to Polk's forum. On the toslink digital cable keep in mind there is a rubber protector that has to be removed before it will fit into the digital connection. If you are using the analogue RCA connections make sure you've set the Polk to the correct input. Also you might have to use the TV's remote to increase the level of the signal coming into the SurroundBar.     On the toslink digital cable, there wasn't a rubber protector on the cable. The plastic pieces that fell off came from the sound bar. I looked liked someone had tried to hook this unit up before I bought it. I'll connect Polk's CS dept. if I have further troubles.

    No problem, glad to be of help. The broken plastic piece may be the small latch that holds the toslink cable into the connector, without it the end of the cable won't stay in place. Best to contact Polk for that.
