    Default Accoustically treating my room

So I am looking to possibly build myself some DIY room treatments, or even buy some from ATS. I am however in need of some help as to how many I should build/buy and where I should possibly place them.

My 2 channel setup is in my office, and its in the worst possible room, a 11 x 11 x 8 foot room. I am wanting to try to get some bass absorption so as not to keep my wife or kid awake, and also just tighten up the room.

I realize my room is fighting my VERY MUCH here, but am hoping treatments can help me here and also when we build since I can take em with me.

Here is a picture of the floorplan of my room and some pictures. I am thinking I should try to get some treatments behind the speakers. I cant do bass traps I dont think simply due to how little space I have behind them, however I might be able to do 2 treatments hugging to the wall on either side behind the speakers...

Here are some of the threads I have been looking at as well:

man thats a tight space. If it was me I would try to minimize the computer desk some and see if its possible to combine the pc into the audio rack or vise versa. May not be as pretty as just a an audio rack but it would free up some space to better place your speakers.

One thing I noticed is that bass traps and room treatments dont reduced the sound outside the room. In my situation it improved the sound in my seat but if your on the floor to my left or right bass and highs can be very exaggerated. The sound outside seems the same

You've got a real challenge here Enders, room treatment is one thing, but soundproofing is way__ more expensive unfortunately. Looking at your floorplan, it's 2 story and all the bedrooms are on the 2nd floor? As for treatments, try a 4'x2'x4" bass trap in each corner, some people recommend a couple of inches air space between trap and wall, but you may find it doesn't make a big difference. Same thing can be said about placing a thinner acoustic panel on 2 walls at first reflection pt. . You might try a acoustic panel or two on the front wall or back. I've read the best way to do placement involves the mic, software, laptop to eq the room etc... Lots of variables to get it right. Once again, soundproofing is going to be such a challenge for you, don't feel alone, most of us who try to do a HT or dedicated LR in our home just don't have the funds to really do a optimal soundproofing job, you do what you can.
