    Default Watts per channel

How many watts per channel is enough for a 5.1 system?

Depends on room size and speakers. Usually 100 watts per channel and above will get the job done in most rooms. Very large rooms will require more power.

+1 ive had Harman Kardons & Denons and they do the job nicely with their conservative wattage..but some of the Sony & newer Pioneer & Yamaha's seem like they need to be higher wattage to do the job to bring out the quality of sound to the speakers..most speakers are rated above 100wpc and to power 5/1 100wpc definetly..do you have a preference on a certain receiver. That may help with this question ? Or are you in the market for one ? It may also help knowing what you have for speakers ?

Does it seem like enough power for your speakers' are you looking for more power ? to bring out the quality of those 60's....Thats a fair size room for sure. My room was 16-24 and i was using a denon avr then i hooked a denon poa2200 to it because i had bought some SDA's-----but in that very same room i was using the HK avr with a NAD amp and it was fantastic to Paradigms

If you listen to train wreck movies at 115 dB SPL, then you can never have too much power. For other people 100 Watts per channel should be more than sufficient.

It's a great sounding system and I will upgrade at some point but living in a townhouse kind of puts a damper on more power! Lol! Thanks guys !

I did some research on your set up. That should sound nice. All have great reviews & with what it is. You should be fine. Enjoy & welcome to Polk....
