Default Peppi Marchello RIP my tribute

Peppi Marchello lead singer for a local legendary Long Island NY band The Good Rats has passed away. He was 68.

He was a great vocalist, and if you never heard him you should check him out. IMO they were the greatest rock band you never heard.

Must have seen them a hundred times, and he never had a bad night. His lyrics were poetry, his voice was as powerful as Pavorotti, the band was tight; everyone was a master of their instruments, and they put on a great show.

    RIP.

I grew up in Huntington, Long Island (I still have family there) and saw The Good Rats at Huntington High School in 1983 or so. I still remember the rubber rats they used to toss into the crowd (my friend caught one). They put on a good show and definitely rocked the house.

I have a rat somewhere... If you saw him live then you know what I am saying when I say I never heard a more powerful voice.. Man we were blessed for sure... I have an autographed RATCITY IN BLUE record somewhere.

I have Tasty, RatCity in Blue and From Rats to Riches on both CD and treasured vinyl. If GG still has it buy it if you don't like it I'll buy it from you. They were talented, but cursed. THe list of bands that opened for them that became huge successes were Bon Jovi, THe Cars, Blondie and Cheap Trick.

Rolling Stone called them "The worlds most famous unknown band"

I checked GG's list, and the only Rats he had on the list was Hot Rats by another one of my favorites who also left us too soon. Frank Zappa

The rats used to get tons of airplay around here. I saw them in '81 or so, they were throwin rubber rats off the stage, pretty cool. They kinda went the way of good music, swallowed by boy bands and the single cd
