I just got my Pioneer SX-1250 back from a full recap, cleaning and going-over. I pulled my A-team of speakers together for a quick demo. My first impression is very positive. There is plenty of power to spare. What's interesting is that I can push this receiver up to 11 o'clock on the volume dial and still have enjoyable levels of music, something that the lesser-powered receivers I've had inherent couldn't do - amazing to me how clipping and distortion sets in earlier than you think it does, even with efficient speakers.
Music is clean and clear. Very pleasant. Interesting that it seems to play better with some speakers than others. This is more pronounced than my vsx-820, which sounds pretty much the same with everything - exceedingly accurate, missing some warmth.
A couple of pictures follow.
