Default You know what I am listening to?

One of the wry benefits of packing up and moving after 22 years in the same place is the opportunity to unearth some of the "collection" from the deep, dank recesses of the basement and listen to stuff.

Right this moment, I have a pair of Monitor 5s (I am still not sure exactly which model - they have the much maligned SL2000 tweeters and are ensconced in "black ash" vinyl cabinets. At any rate, I've got 'em on bespoke Polkstands (the Karmic ones I got from "Reverend Hayes" some time back) and hooked to an EICO ST-40 push-pull 7591A stereo inegrated amp.... and they sound fine. Clean and full, excellent vocals and terrific acoustic guitar. Good bass to (not the tightest imaginable - blame the EICO, but amazingly deep for such unassuming little speakers). Just listened to a live recording from a local radio station of Cracker performing Euro-Trash Girl (a great song) and it sounded just superb.
    all the best,

Monitor 5's are great speakers. I gave my son a pair with the crossovers upgraded and RDO-194 tweeters. He's powering them with s Scott 222B with EL84 tubes. The 222 sound really smooth and sweet with the Polks. An excellent low cost combo.

    Are you moving somewhere?

The 5's are a great speaker. Im new to the Monitor line but i have to say they are quite the speaker. I listen to my 5's M-F each week for 1.25 hours & they are very ear friendly speaker....ive never seen them in the Black Ash color.

New Hamster. The only way I could convince my wife to let me have a hifi room was to build a house around it! ;-)
Actually, we bought the property up there in the early 1990s as a site for our retirement home.
