Default Stands for SDA Compact Reference?

My father in law has a pair of SDA Compact Reference speakers that he bought new back in the 80's. I have them in my house now so I can clean them up for him (there are some scratches on the cabinets and some paint, but the drivers seem to be perfect and they sound great). Did Polk manufacture a matching stand for these speakers? He doesn't have a set and I was thinking I would pick him up a pair if there is such a thing. If there isn't a specific stand for them, what brands and stand heights do people recommend? These are pretty heavy speakers and they're wide so I'd like to make sure I get the right thing.

Polk sold stands specifically made for the CRSs but they are no longer available. Plans for them can be found here: http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/atta...1&d=1186358580
Generic stands can be used provided they can support the weight, are the proper height, and have a wide base and top plate to prevent them from toppling over. Spikes for the base are also recommended.

Thanks for the info. Now that I know Polk made specific stands, I'm going to see if I can find a used pair. If not, I'll look into other options.

You can always bring the plans to a metal fabricator, and have them custom made
