Default Joke names given for Asiana pilots in recent SFO crash

I cannot believe somebody had the nerve to pull this joke over the air. Now Asiana is sueing the TV station.

Really? I guess they really screwed that one up. I would far prefer the track record of Fox over that of say.. Al Jezeera, MSNBC, CNN, NPR, CBS, and ABC.

Each of the networks listed have spent much of the past 16 months trying to convince the public that a Latino was really a white man that shot a poor, defenseless, young child simply over the color of his skin. This narrative is so far removed from the truth that it easily illustrates just how much contempt the MSM has for the American people.

This is the current mantra of the press...

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.”
Let's not forget that it was the NTSB that gave the bogus list of names to Fox to begin with. Of those two, I give Fox a higher rating on the trust scale... YMMV.

Don't blame Fox, I heard a report that an FAA source had confirmed to them that those were the names.

I'm glad you don't read anything "extra" into someones opinion John, and take it somewhere it does NOT need to go.

I simply don't like FOX, and I think they really dropped the ball on this one.
An 8th grader would have known better than to broadcast that story.

That's why in Great Britain they call them "News Readers".

While the incident and injuries were regrettable to be sure, this list of airline crew members is ..... funny. REAL funny.
No, make that really, really funny.

"Oh, but that's 'fill-in-the-blank' !!! You're making fun of peoples' names due to their country of origin !!"

Well, hadn't thought about it, but that excuse will do for now.

My last name in German means "terrible, horrible, ugly", so have at it Mr. Seymour Gnutz.

To be honest, I have been laughing since I first heard about it at Friday night's poker game. The crash and deaths are tragic, and perhaps this joke was a bit too soon, but still, it is funny. Nor do I see the racist aspect. The names are puns based on similar sounding real names. If the names did not make sense from a pun perspective then it isn't a very good pun.

No worries at Pepster... We each have our own opinion, and I respect yours. My response was meant to illustrate how out of touch with reality the media in general have become. Journalistic truth has been scrapped in favor of P.C. Social Justice. Journalistic integrity has become nothing more than a script, a pretty face and a TelePrompTer.

All about the context. "News" is SERIOUS! If this had been done on The Daily Show, you think we'd be talking about it now? I personally don't care.

I will say that political correctness is pushed often WAY too hard these days, but man.. people died here. I think the jokes are in very poor taste. And, actually, I don't think one should need any devastating circumstances to think that kind of humor is questionable.

Geez guys, has nothing to do with the networks trust factor no matter what network this happened on. Just one of those things that slipped by and was frickin' funny. Nothing more nothing less.

Bad taste ? Yeah.....but still funny. No sense making a mountain out of a mole hill here.

You'd think the Asiana Airlines legal team would be busy prepping for the onslaught of activity headed their way!

As far as proofreading goes, how about the guy who made the slide that was shown on the screen for the TV-viewing audience to see while the news anchor read the names off of the teleprompter? I'd say some of the blame lies there also.

Hilarious? Ohmygosh, yes! Damn funny! Best I've heard in a while! Pretty sad, actually, that we've almost forgotten how to laugh in this overly sensitive, PC world.

I asked a good friend of mine what his opinion was, and he said "Funny !".
Here, I'll let him tell you himself:

    ..... where'd he go ? ..... he was just here ..... HEY ! ANYBODY SEEN MIKE HUNT ? HELLO !! . I'M LOOKING FOR MIKE HUNT !!! .........

.... well, you'll just have to take my word for that.

If you cannot make fun of yourself or your people you might as well pack it in.

The really funny part is Asiana sueing over this childish joke.

"South Korea Asiana Airlines announced Monday that it was going to sue a San Francisco TV station that it said damaged the airline's reputation..."
    http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162-...e-pilot-names/

I would think crashing an airplane in perfect weather with unlimited visibility by landing short of the runway, killing three people, and injuring others would probably damage an airline's reputation more than a silly joke.

What makes the entire legal situation believable is the name of the attorney.

She's from Oakland. Ms. Mi Su Yu
