    Default CA-1010 for RTA12's

I'm currently driving these RTA-12B's with a Yamaha RX-V667 AV receiver but I found on Craigslist a Yamaha CA-1010 amp and CT-1010 tuner combo for $300. I'm seeing if he will separate them because I never listen to the radio. I'm assuming the CA-1010 will have more oomph and sound quality than my current receiver or am I wrong? Or maybe I should wait for something else entirely?

    I much appreciate any opinions.

THe ca1010 will have more power than the 667, but it's 30 plus years old. I would look at a newer, fresher design. It would help us to make recommendations if you state.

I'm not sure what you want me to state? Do you mean what state I live in? Colorado.

I thought maybe a vintage power source would go well with these? Can you get newer 2ch stuff anymore?

Well, I picked it up! It is... beautiful. I love vintage stereo equipment. I will get pics, albeit cell phone pics, in case anyone is interested.

No, I literally never listen to the radio. It's all commercials and the same songs over and over anyway. I'd rather supply the music myself. :-) It would have looked nice with the amp though.

My apologies for not having a decent camera, I spend too much on other things. ;p

It is near mint. I say near because there is a scuff/blemish on the silver front panel next to the volume knob. Otherwise perfect, including the wood and the vents on top.

I am concerned that there is only ~1 inch of clearance between it and the shelf above it, hence the fan on the floor.

Sounds fantastic. A significant upgrade from the Yamaha RX-V667 AV receiver I was using. Now to sell that to recoup the cost of the CA-1010...

Maybe it's because I don't have golden ears but I can't tell a difference when I switch it to Class A mode. But my ears must be have a hint of gold (or I'm crazy) because I can tell a difference with the top hats on the RTA's on or off. I would enjoy staring at the peerless but I *suppose* SQ is more important ;p

Lastly, yes, I use tone controls. You might even see an EQ one day. Let's just leave that alone and unite based on the fact that I love vintage Polk.

I also received the original manual (also in perfect condition ;p ) which states

    5) Wide Range Peak-Level Meters
In addition to their calibration in dB, these meters offer independent readings of output power in Watts (for 8-ohm speakers) and of the Rec Out output (in mV).
Does this imply that the meters are inaccurate when the amp is driving a 4 ohm load such as my RTA's?

Sorry, been traveling with limited internet access and typing on a mobile device. I meant to type " . . . if you state your price range." Looks like you already bought it though.

    Hope it serves you well.
