    Unhappy Rt5 problem

I purchased my RT5's about five years ago and have always used them for rear channel sound. Just yesterday, (1/2/2004), I installed them in a simple stereo setup for my aunt. Now that they are the ONLY speakers, a noticed that one of them sounds "hoarse". That's the best way to describe it. It's as though there is a short somewhere inside the speaker. The sound is crackly & rough....seems to clear a bit at higher volume. I checked the receiver using a different set of speakers and it is NOT the receiver.

    What should I do?

Gently push the drivers in and see if you notice any friction, possibly a scratching noise. If so, the driver is shot. Have you tried swapping the speakers and seeing if the problem is the speaker or the Left/Right channel itself?

Yes I did switch the speakers from left to right and that did not help. I will try your other suggestion about gently pushing the drivers.

    Thank you :)

WTF is all this about? Not to be off topic....but ever since i have bought a pair of the RT5.......All I've read are problems with them! EFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!

Good luck with the problem, might be a blown woofer or on its way there.

    Hey, just a thought......

IT COULD BE a lose crossover piece. Open the problem causing speaker up and give a look...my RT35i had a similair problem a while back. Just a thought of course.....
