Heard about PSA a few months back. So far I like what I see. Problem is, I've got a PB12-plus/2 from back in the Tom Vodhanel days & am quite content with that. I think SVS has lost their best bang for the buck crown in the last few years.

There is a pretty large / long thread at the AVS Forum about PSA, you can even talk to Tom Vodhanel (co-founder). He answered every PM I sent him in less than 24 hours. Really nice guy, and helpful.

The Triax supposedly measures as below:

    CEA-2010 Ratings (2m ground plane)
    Ultra-low bass (20-31.5 Hz): 116.4dB
    Low bass (40-63Hz): 127.1dB
*Add 6dB for an equivalent value for a 1m measurement distance.

"4000W RMS / 8000W Peak amplifier with DSP built in USA"

I find this... suspect. That would take two 20amp power lines. I don't doubt that it's stupendously badass, but that just isn't quite right.

Maybe it's 8000W available momentarily in a burst while draining all capacitors, etc.

You'd need the 2x 20 amps just for 4000 watts. Given that it's a sub amp, you can get away with 10% THD without people noticing (especially at that SPL), so I don't doubt that it does 4000watts in some manner- just not the one we usual think of when we look at amp specs.

You would think at leat 30 Amps would be needed.... Even the all mighty 3800 watt Gotham suggest dedicated line per sub. But this is what Tom had to say on Blu-Ray forums:

As long as the outlet is not already burdened by numerous other devices it will be fine. In fact dual Triax on a single 15a breaker will usually work just fine as long as there aren't other high draw devices on the same circuit.

Remember, a standard breaker will allow 2-4x the amperes for a few seconds without any issue. Would you get a *tiny* bit more max output if you had a dedicated 15-20a circuit for each Triax? Sure. But its not something I would personally worry about. In context you might be talking about 130dB at your seating position versus 132dB.

Tom and Jim are both great dudes. SVS is also an excellent company. I wish them both well.
