    Default Marantz 2275, any good

I found a marantz locally and am wondering if i should go for it. I saw it at a yard sale picture on craigslist, the wife said hubby might sell it but she wasn't sure. It was sitting on an antique table with a bunch of other "junk" on it. lol. Wish me luck??

What's it selling for? That's a pretty well-liked Marantz model there. If it's in the reasonable range it's worth it. And let me tell you, if you have some vintage Polk Monitors, they really like these units!

    Good Luck!

The 22xx series is very well sought after and resepcted, i had a 2265B and felt it was the best sounding reciever i had heard. It also does like polk speakers a lot both my rta12c and 5jr's sounded exceptional with the marantz. They also bring a pretty penny. If in correct condition and if gone thru by a qualitified tech its worth (imo) between 350/500 depending on cosmetic condition.

I haven't heard back. It wasn't for sale when i inquired and don't want to set off any red flags. I'm not looking to steal it but don't have interest at full market. I'll inquire later today. Thanks for the info!

I've had a 2252b, a 2285b, a 2500, and a 2600. I sold the 2252b and the 2285b, but they were fantastic. They sounded great with the Monitor 7b's as well as JBL's I hooked them up to. Buy it, recap it, and convert the lights to LED...you'll love it.

Isn't that a great combination? The 2252b just didnt give my M7b's enough juice, I blew the tweeter protection fuses a couple times, then upped my amp on the M7b's. Those M7b's were surprising, I fed them well over 175 watts RMS, and they ate it up.

You must really play those M7s "loud"! I've been running mine through their paces and I've been pleasantly surprised at how well they seem to take to a number of vintage receivers (Technics, Vector Research, Marantz, etc.).

But I do believe they can take more power. So far the most they've seen is 85 watts x 2 from a Technics SA-5570. The Marantz is a 2265 (seems to push them fine--also a lot of synergy there).

Oh yeah, I was hitting them pretty hard...but they never flinched, other than when they'd clip too low powered of amp, then I'd blow a fuse. I had them hooked up to a Yamaha M-70 amp for quite some time, and they loved the power it fed them. Come to think of it, I think the M-70 is actually rated at 200W RMS, and I'm sure I hit it. :)

A couple pics, one of the 7b's with the 2252b and the other with the M-70...you can see how much juice I was pumping to them in that picture. Pictures were taken many, many years ago...my housing situation and listening room have improved quite dramatically. :)

cnh. I always loved the looks of the vintage Technics. I had to see what that one looked like so i looked on CLASSIC-AUDIO. 39lbs. Thats a beast. Im sure that must sound some sweet on 7's. ive heard a few vintage Technics but not that model....also on a different note.... I see there is a VINTAGE AUDIO STORE up near you in Waterville. Have you been there ? I see his ad on Clist. Just wondering if its worth a ride to take a peek ?----- :)

Yeah, I saw that listing too? You can bet I'm going to check that out soon. Don't know what their hours are but if they're open tomorrow, I'm there! That series Technics is IMO one of the best class of receivers Technics made. I don't care as much for the SA X00-X000 series, not as musical!

It's a heavy sucker, almost 40 lbs. most of that transformer weight, some good sized storage caps and old school heavy duty heat sinks, not those thin aluminum fans that followed in the '80s and after.

I'd love to have the TOTL SA-5770 with twice the power!

I'll get back to you in a PM if and when I check out this guy's place.

Cnh. Please do if you happen to go there. I can make a trip up there soon. Wonder if plainoledave had any luck with possible 2265. Thats a nice vintage receiver....I would love to have a 2285b.w/wood box. That would be my ideal Marantz. Not too little n not too big. But they sure do hold their value. A FWIW their worth every penny. 30 plus y/o vintage is getting scarce :(
