Thumbs up Any Linn Index listeners here?

I have a pair of Linn Index Mark I speakers.
    These are really good.
Not much low bass but mids/highs are great.

    Specially the tweeter/highs is amazing.
So much detail on the highs and there is rough/forceful tone on the highs that really brings them openly to the ears.
Highs are more powerful, with great details but not harsh nor too bright.
Instruments sound like they have more resonance/flickering?, slight buzz/roughness and very pronounced.

I like the highs better than probably most of my speakers.
Other speakers' tweeters sound softer or not as powerful compared to these.

And mids are no slouch. Very open, tight and sharp vocals.
Imaging is so good that sound comes from right in the middle.
    Me likey.
    Anyone here have them?

It's been a while since Ive heard a pair but a decent little 80's vintage 8" 2 way using a KEF B200 and Tonegen tweet.IIRC they were designed for near wall placement which would provide some reinforment to the bass and lower mids.

Yes the 8" woofers are KEF B-200 SP1014.
I thought the tweeters are also KEF SP 1192.

I owned a pair for 2 years (89 to 91) and liked them.
The first LINN INDEX speakers (very early 90's) were VERY "bright" and "lively" but coupled with the right type of amp (mostly british) could deliver a very articulate and exciting sound.
The index's definitely benefited from a good source and amp.
However; if the index's were coupled with a bright(harsh*)amplifier, the sound quickly became shrill and edgey (*most jap amps).
LINN INDEX II addressed this problem to some extent but remained an "informative" speaker.
Most speakers at this price point were at the time(in my opinion) quite laid back (Dull).
Place them hard against the wall on stands, original Linn stands were sold as extras.
From a review by Rome Castellanus on Audio Shopper
" ... Index speakers are infinite baffle and two-way systems, each utilizing a 1" dome tweeter and an 8" woofer, a KEF unit if I am not mistaken. The speakers are intended for stand-mounting, and designed to work best within 2 - 4" from the back wall and at least 18" from any corner.
The speaker's specified frequency is 60Hz-20KHz+/-3dB. Sensitivity is 86SPL, 1w/1m and impedance is 8 Ohms nominal, 6 Ohms minimum. ...
... Indexes are no longer produced by Linn. During their ten-year tenure, Linn produced a series II version in 1991 with a 6" woofer and biwire connection. The Index speakers retailed from $325 (1985 Audio) to $595 (1994 Stereo Review). "

It's so interesting that the picture above shows the stands I bought from the same store but not on the same day.
They must have thought they don't go together.
