    Default LsiC vs LsiM Center

So, with the sale going on I thought maybe, just maybe about doing this.

I still need to pick up a center for my HT system I'm building up. Fronts LSi9's, 7's for the surrounds and was planning on trying to find a LSiC for the center.

But seeing most C's are going for around the price of what I can get the new centers for (the smaller one) I figured I might just buy a newer one.

My plan was thinking I could always upgrade to the LSiM towers in the future and move the others around for a 7.1. The room isn't huge so towers are really overkill right now.

I just wanted to see if anyone has compared the newer centers to see how they would fare against the match center for the older LSi's. Is there a large timbre difference that would throw off the soundstage if used? That right now would be my biggest concern.

I should be over that way sometime in the near future. We have some new hires at work and all 3 work out of one of the offices in DT Milwaukee. I'll give you a shout when I'm over that way, probably is going to be end of Sept they said I would be going down for a few days to help train.

I'd say grab a LSIM 704.. the smaller of the center speakers since its cheaper and prob matches better with the older line.

I've heard plenty of people say that the LSI Center wasn't that great of a center speaker and that hooking up dual LSI7s or 9s together side by side was a better option.. so with that said the newer line is probably your best option if you can get in on that friends and family deal as the 704 is only $374 and ends on the 18th.

I wouldn't let room size dictate towers versus bookshelves on stands. You are still using the same space, but towers generally are more full range. My HT is in a 11x12 room. Originally, it was 4 LSi15s and an LSiC. Now it is PSB Synchrony One towers in front, LSi15s rear (surround), and a PSB Synchrony One center, and I have never felt like it was to much for the room.

Also, the first upgrade was replacing the LSiC with the PSB. It was a drop in replacement. The level check showed the SPL was the same, but it really made a big positive difference in the movie sound.
