Default Is this deal worth the money?

As of right now, I am running a Denon 2312CI receiver with TSi300 fronts and a CS10 center channel and a Klipsch RW-12d subwoofer. I saw an ad on craigslist for 2 Polk Monitor 70 front speakers and a CS2 center channel all for $300. Everything is in good condition and works well. My question is, would these speakers be worth the upgrade for me? Would I really see a $300 difference between the 2 speaker sets? And if so, would my Denon be able to properly drive the Monitor 70's pretty well?

I would say it's not a huge upgrade, not $300 worth. And to get full enjoyment out of Monitor 70's I would say your Denon would not have enough power to drive them. Drive them? Yes. Well? no.

    Also welcome to CP.

I think you will see a fairly sizable difference with the Monitor 70/CS2 combo. And $300 is a pretty good price for those, as well. What are you running for surround speakers?

I'm in the process of finding surround speakers now but main concern are my front 3. If I knew I could sell my speakers fairly quickly after buying the Monitor 70's and CS2 then I wouldn't think twice about it, but even though my TSI300's and CS10 are in perfect condition, it's hard selling home theater equipment in my area

    Welcome to Club Polk!

The present system you have is fine and will work better with your existing receiver. M70s and CS2 require more POWER to hit their mark so you might not notice a huge difference with the receiver you are now running. And if you do, it will be mostly in two channel stereo playback. Because you're using a SUB in your present system your sub takes up most of the lower end that the M-70s would add to what is missing in the TSI-300s.

So not much improvement for HT. And a significant improvement in Stereo sound with MORE amplification!

+1 cnh---Will your Denon properly drive the 70's---- it would be like putting a 4cyl motor in a 3/4 ton truck. It may move it & thats about it. Not enough ump for that size speaker
