    Default Good subwoofer match?

I have a pair of Monitor 60 series ii speakers and a Harman Kardon HK 3480 powering them. I listen to mostly rock/metal although my GF likes to listen to rap and this setup is going to be used for parties. I was wondering what subwoofer would be a good match with these speakers. I saw the PSW10 but it seems like it wouldn't really be powerful enough. The PSW505 seems like a better option. Any suggestions?

The PSW505 is definitely a better option; the PSW10 isn't going to do much of anything other than chuff and bottom out. Remember that there is no need to match brands or timbre when it comes to subs. Honestly this little guy would be better: http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/...cts/stf-1.html

It will be tight and fast for your rock/metal and go lower and louder than the PSW10, and probably about the same as the 505 but more musical. Good luck!

The PSW 505 is probably the best budget sub in the Polk line-up, but Polk really isn't known for subs. I would look at SVS or HSU. Good subs at reasonable prices. If your looking towards a more musical sub, look at sealed subs, SVS refers to them as compact. The PB and SB 1000 subs from SVS has had some really good reviews.

Call me the devil's advocate but I would invest in better speakers over a sub.
The Monitor 60s are a decent speaker for HT...and they can play music. But they aren't exactly what I would call a primarily musical speaker.

If you aren't inclined to upgrade the 60s, then the 505 would be a good party sub for you at not much scratch.
As much as I love HSU and SVS and they are considered budget entries, the rap music is going to tend to have overly bloated bass anyway and it isn't going to make too much difference to a group of party-goers.

    I may have an addiction... RTA-15TL, SDA 2, LSi25, LSi15, LSi9, LSi7, LSiCx2, LSiFX, LS/FX, RT/FX, DSW MP2000...and that's just the Polks...
