Ok...I finally went and upgraded the power in my living room 2 channel set up, however...the speakers I have while nice, aren't cutting it so to speak. The HK 3490 can drive them to nice loud levels cleanly but the low end is lacking, lacking enough that I have to augment them with a rather beefy sub that I'll be honest, isn't sonically matched to the towers. I am looking to replace these kinda no name brand towers and also the sub (hell who doesn't like hard hits under 35Hz). The receiver is good for 120wpc-8 Ohm +/-45amps according to Harman Kardon, granted there are more powerful solutions out there but after I got my original HK 3375 years ago(still have it too !), I actually like the HK sound.
So basically, with the lack of local audio guys locally for home audio, I'm turning to you, the members of this forum for suggestions on what to look at, listen to but as far as source material goes, I'll be toting my own CDs and an LP or two to demo any speakers, with music that i'll actually be listening to on said noise makers.
Remember, any suggestions are wanted. My main musical interests are Rock, Metal, some Newer Country, bands like AC/DC, Motley Crue, Metallica(older stuff), Operator, Sugar Cult, Theory Of a Deadman, Martina McBride(gorgeous voice, enough said there), just for perspective. I won't lie, I"m not into Diana Krall or Allison Krause(sp?)...sorry...not my cup of tea musically.
Thanks for reading this rather long winded post and more thanks to those who can help steer me into what would work best for my set up, and my mucial tastes.
