Well I took my car to Bandimere Speedway on Sunday, had a lot of fun, as I have never been on the track before.

Low 14's, I don't have my car heavily modded, and don't plan on going to crazy, I am going to take it in for a tune though..

I am going back next Wednesday night, I want to see how she runs in cooler weather..

Kewl! I've went many miles on drag strips. Did you have Sportsman (ambers countdown) or Pro Tree (three ambers/green)? What was your RT (reaction time)? Low reaction times win races; a fair way to get a head start in drag racing.

    1) Bandimere is 5800' above sea level
    2) He said it was hot out
    3) It was his first time at a 1/4 track ever. Whoever tested the 1/4 time for the Camry was at sea level and had probably done it a million times before.

    V6 Camaro

    SAE Net Horsepower @ RPM 323 @ 6800
    SAE Net Torque @ RPM 278 @ 4800

    V6 Camry

Power (SAE net): 268 hp @ 6200 rpm
    Torque (SAE net): 248 lb-ft @ 4700 rpm

From the sounds of it, his Camaro is not stock so it's probably putting out more than 323 at the crank at sea level.

Was it that driver's first time at the track too? Are they 5,000 feet above sea level? What was the ambient temperature and barometer?

Nightfall beat me to it. Let's not leave out the weight difference between the two vehicles...

So William, how much experience do you have drag racing?

Yeah, altitude reduces power. So does bad air; high temps/humidity means a corrected altitude reading that can be much higher than actual altitude. Pounds per cubic inch makes a difference.

Still, if you're using street tires at the track and they are spinning, you won't see lower ET's. They do make DOT street legal slicks, or get some extra rims and mount real slicks IF you want to go faster. Your 60 foot time is very important in drag racing.

    Are you automatic or stick?

Three ambers green, my RT's were not the best, but I never hit the red. I was blown away watching some guys hitting 008's 002's

    The Camry is lighter?

I haven't had any experience with drag racing cars, only a little with motorcycles. Mid 10's at best.

My Camaro is a V8 not a V6, and it was very hot out, nightfall I'm sure you can attest to that on Sunday. Keep in mind I didn't go to the track to smash any records, I just went out to have some fun with one of my buddy's, and my wife. My car is not stock but not heavily modded as I stated above..

William, thanks for informing us that you know as much about drag racing as you do about home audio.

It's all in the leave. An .015 light may not get you into the next round. The first part of my drag racing life was sportsman tree. Super Comp was pro tree. I had to borrow a practice tree to get better at the pro tree. Wired it to my Dedenbear adjustable trans brake button and sat in the car in garage with glove on to retrain myself. (They would spot check you at the line for cut exposed-finger gloves). Stage, press the brake button, mat the throttle and lift the button when the lights flashed. Yee ha!

    Have fun! Njoy!
