Not to mention he never said anything about how fast his car was, only about how much fun he had. You're the one that made it about that. A guy goes to a 1/4 track for the first time, has a lot of fun, shares it on a forum, and you tell him his car is slow. Stay classy.

Are you seriously comparing a real world strip test vs a magazine test? Magazines get rollout as well which helps lower the times a bit, and there's no RT.

A G37 sedan will run it in 13s according to car and driver, it's a v6...your point? He went to have fun, not to beat other theoretical figures. I can pull any number off the internet and make fun of him for it.

My car is a 4 door family sedan, I can run low 13s in it easily.....but wouldn't be surprised if I ran 14.x due to high altitude, first time at track, street tires, etc.... Don't be hatin' because he had a good time.

I used that technique to win a few eliminators at Englishtown, so yes, anyone could do it.

Anyone except for the anyone's you beat.

I ran a C Gas BB 4 speed 67 Camaro. When bracket racing started paying out big, many of the legal NHRA cars joined in. Most of the time I waited a long time for that third yellow. A fellow could get distracted waiting a few seconds.

Glad you had fun. It's very addicting. I've been doing it for 10 years... Put some slicks on it and spray it.. Once you get into the low 12's or faster the addiction seems to set in pretty heavy..

LOL How about it. I recall an interview where the owner said he got it running, drove it, blipped the throttle, felt the front end lift and blew both head gaskets.

Sounds like a fun evening. And I wouldn't worry about the #'s compared to anyone else. I suspect it's all about improving your own time and most importantly, as you said, having a great time. I regret never taking my S4 to a track day here in VA, so be happy you got out there, and are motivated to go again.

    Enjoy!

Ah brings back memories of last summer when I did the Street Legal Drags at a local track on a Friday night, $35 entry, simple tech with a stock half ton truck, did 9 runs that night, got better at the tree for each run (Pro Tree). 18.04 was my fastest...not bad for a 16year old V6 powered half ton truck !

Was an abolute blast, I'd do it again just for craps n giggles.

At 2:29 in the owner talks about it and shows pics, but I've never seen a video with it running with the train blower. At :50 in it shows the car with a 'smaller' blower go on its side due to a wheelie bar malfunction.

If I owned a car like that and lived as close to the track as you do I would be there as much as I could. Too much fun. I'm glad you had a good time. A lot of the fun is to see how your times improve as you tweak along the way. I hope you continue to keep it up.

This was my last street car back in the ‘90’s, a '72 Chevelle SS replicant w/SS dash. 468, automatic, 2:75 first gear, Super Stock suspension mods, 3.5" Dr Gas true X crossover exhaust, 12 bolt diff. 4,160 pounds with me in it. I have a video of it doing 11:10 but it had a bit more left in it. The guy that took video had a bad camera so it’s choppy with no sound.

'72 Chevelle Poor Video No Sound

My last race car, a Super Comp altered with 369CI SBC. Super Comp runs on an 8:90 index.

I left Super Comp to crew cheif two years for professional nostalgia racer Arnie 'the Farmer' Beswick before hanging it up. I got to take this car for a lap. Best ET on this car was 7:08 @ 198.
