    Default Tubes, Batteries and Fleas

Last winters project (due to severe home budget restraints) was a build of the Bottlehead Quickie. Poor thing has had no mate.

Behold the beauty of tubes, batteries and the fleas!!

Nice! How often do you need to change the D size and 9v batteries at the full power?

Well - I took them off the Realistic mini-monitors (Thanks DKG999!) they were testing on and threw them at the DQ-10's. I'm not going to be bothering the neighbors with this rig but Holy Cole sounds like she's sittin' in my lap!!

Ahhh...let's see GA - gonna be a bit of a roady to get here before I shut 'er down to get some sleep but drive quick and you're more than welcome to bring your ears!

Batteries - I really couldn't say. I've ran the pre on some other stuff just for fun but never ran it long term. When I finished this setup I put new ones in just so I wouldn't have to troubleshoot a battery issue if something was wrong.

So that's the secret lab project! Very nice job!

So if you add more D batteries would it be 10 watts each?

Bottlehead Quickie for the pre and I'm scaring the DQ-10's to death with them now. Not hard to clip these little guys on speakers like that but...did you know the volume can go "down" as well as "up"!!??!!

He posted some tease pics in the RAS sub forum. I thought he was building a class D amp.

I gotta get up that way soon to hear all the things you built since the last time you built stuff. Did you get your cable back? Blake has it from the last Saturday Chi town record store crawl day.

Great job! Sweet lookin' with those chassis in red!

I've bought the boards for a rainy day and so far only looked at the chassis. When I have time, I'll have to put them together. Should be about 2017 I figure.....

    ENJOY!!

A bunch of Lithium ion cells makes a nice small rechargeable battery.

Very cool Aaron. Hope to get my ears on it.

I have components left over - I can't handle not changing something when I build. Resistors and caps for sure - maybe some wire. It won't be the entire BOM but it'll be a start.
    You interested?

I'm going to guess those RatShack mini-monitors never sounded so good! Very cool! I now have space and time for a workbench that I can start working on my box of Dynaco parts, and see if they can assemble themselves into a couple of amps!
