Looks like no one plugged the holes.

This hack has a subtle difference for me. The last time we were hacked my view switched from widescreen to the narrow default. This time all posts are displaying as been read, and I expect there are new posts. Also, this seems to be a different hacker. I swear it seems as if once these guys discover an easily hacked or spammed site they let others know.

Damn, been trying to get in for awhile now, seems like the only way is to go to the home page and click on Join the Polk Forum. Then try to post a new thread anywhere and you will be prompted to enter your username and password. Trying to get in using www.polkaudio.com/forums isn't working anymore.
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

I find it kinda funny in a way, we were hacked by someone pushing.....politics of all things.

Either Polks systems are that ancient, or the hackers are that good. In any event, that's why I put out as little info as possible out on the web. I know we have had a few threads on hackers, but that is the wave of the future for thieves. This hacker was just pushing his support for you know who. I can imagine cyber security is a booming industry too.

Why would anybody want to hack an audio forum?

Its just amazing how some folks just do not have better things to do with their time.

I could not log onto this site using the normal red/gray display option because all the POLK logos are MISSING above, as well as the LOG IN box! There is now a GIANT GAZA display option that seems to be the only one you can actually log into this site with. And WHO is directing that OPTION, I wonder?

There is no doubt that there are hacker forums and once the PF was exploited, every other hacker now knows this is an easy mark.

Wouldn't surprise me if it doesn't happen again.

I was able to get in by having a direct link to the forums instead of a link to the home page. Still a PITA, wish these guys would find another hobby instead of messing with ours.

Agreed Tony. For a second though, I thought it was a disgruntled Emoette seeking revenge.

    J/K Emo owners....

The Carver forum is all messed up too. I have not been able to log in there in two weeks

I think this is out of the site admin's hands, a couple of other forum sites I am on were also hacked in the past 24 hours. I think it has to do with the software running it as all the others use the same software. Just an observation.

Funny you should mention that. I just made a post there, got booted out, tried to sign back in and now I can't.

I'll call James about the Carver forum, though I wouldn't expect anything to be done very quickly. As you know, the whole gang is at Carverfest right now.

Hacking an audio forum rates up there with how many clowns can you cram into a Mini. I think it's someone who didn't get enough attention from their parents as a child.

    Update;

James is currently enjoying lunch in Bryson City and he will take a look at what's going on with the Carver Forum when he gets back to the cabin.

Well, anyway....thank God they didn't get a hold of Keiko's porn.

Or maybe they should.....that might at least cause a cease fire for awhile in the Syrian conflict.

General: Hey Assad, you gotta come see this....

Assad : What ? I'm busy killing people, stfu....

General: No man, really....you gotta see these Hooters...

Assad: Hooters ? Why didn't you say so ?.....Who's this Keiko guy....invite him to the next state dinner.

General: Keiko is off the hook, yeah lets do that

Assad: Ok, can I go back to killing people now ?

General: Only if you want to miss that Miley Cyrus video....

    Assad: "CEASE FIRE !!!"

    Yeah...it could happen.

This is akin to crank phone calls when I was a kid. There's no reason to hack a forum like this, since there's no personal information other than some ones personal email.
On the other hand, they could be trying to find there way into the main Polk site, and that's a different thing all together.

Got onto their Facebook site and by all the "WTF ?!" comments, it looks like at least 200 sites were nailed. Had to use their "Translate" for a lot of comments, but the motive seems to be "We want to get our message out !".
I'll admit that it was a catchy little ditty, but ... hacking "knittingneedles.com" and "Socks-R-Us", etc doesn't seem to me like it would be hitting the right target audience.

BTW, anyone else notice that the singers singing their little song in Syrian-ese did so with what was decidedly a Canadian accent ? Just sayin' .

This kind of site is probably an ideal target for real hacker if it's popular with people that have online accounts. With the right sql injection this site could try to make requests to popular bank or credit card sites and if you had one of the said sites logged in on another browser tab. they can make transactions as if they were you. Or they could just post embarrassing crap to your facebook or twitter account.
