Ok, just brought home a nice pair of RTiA7's on the weekend, however...an incredibly stupid idea has entered my head, head this one out...
I have a lower end Yamaha AVR receiver collecting dust, thinking about putting it in my bedroom system displacing the HK 3375...now here's where the stupid idea really starts...bi-amping the RTiA7s !
Idea... purchase a pair of RCA Y adapters, 2M plugs-1F jack, remove the Pre Out-Amp In pins from the HK 3490 and placing these Y's in place keeping the pre and amp connected then using that receiver to power the lower woofers of the towers, then run an RCA cable to the Amp In of the 3375 to power the midrange and tweeter of the towers. Lower half would be getting 120 watts a side and the upper portions would be getting 75 watts per side, grand total of 195 watts a side, bi-amped with emphasis on the lower end of the sound...am I nuts or ?
I did check the posts on the back of the towers, upper connectors are the 6.5 inch and tweet, the lower connectors power up the dual 7 inch woofers.
Like I said, poor mans bi-amp...worth it ?
