    WELCOME TO CLUB POLK!

Most of us have not had the opportunity to hear this new entry level series from Polk, so it's hard to say anything. But I would expect, from the specs, that you should see "improved" bass performance from the larger 8" drivers as opposed to the 6 1/2" drivers in the previous series towers.

Please feel free to do a "review" for us when you get them set up!

    Enjoy!

hey i most definitely will I bought the TSX330t and really like the sounds from them broke them in over a week but something just didn't hit home with them maybe the shear size or how they looked with 2 drivers and a tweet, so i spent the little extra on the 550's and also upgraded my center to the tsx250 i'm pumped about these 550's when they do come in because they can only sound better than the 330 (so i hope) and bass is not an issue since i'm running a 12 inch boston accoustic G5 off a Inuke3000 amp so i gues a little tweaking with the cross overs to cut bass down a bit on the 550's will probably be needed. I will be back for review but i am no professional here mind you, highest end speakers i heard were $14,000 a pair speakers and low end $200 a pair speakers so hopefully i can resolve a happy medium review

Going with the larger center is a "good" idea. The center channel carries more surround information than any "other" channel in a surround set up!

    Look forward to the review!

well after 3 weeks I finally got my cherry tsx550T's and still waiting on my back ordered tsx250c and so far only an hour of listening into them and really to anyone who has 330's or 440's and are unsure listen to the 550's if you have the extra to spend they are well worth it, good low end bass but i set my cross over to 80hz to help take out some of the low end bass since i have a 3000watt amp to a 12 inch ported sub.

now to the listening part of things I so far listened to Lindsey Sterling - crystalize, lindsey sterling - shadows, brad paisley & carrie under wood - remind me, Beethoven - fur elise and to those songs good highs they are a tad bright on certain parts, good low end and so far the mids are good. I still have to set my EQ to further tune down the highs but everyone has different listening preferences and too after a few hours of listening it may settle down a bit will have to see.

I previously had the tsx330t's for a week and decided to step it up over all so far with the little listening i have into at the moment it's worth the upgrade

I wrote this two or three weeks ago. I am still happy with them.
I have since bought the TSx150C and also like it. It sounds great to me.

"I have had the Polk TSX550T for about a month now and they sound really good to me. Very happy with them.
The only difference that I can say that changed with break in is some male voices that sounded, like what I think the reviewers call bloated or tubby, cleared up after about a week. Maybe it was because the voices overlapped the 5 1/25" midrange and 8" woofers and they started to work together better after several days of operation.

I ran them full range with the center, surrounds and sub turned off to give them the full frequency range of the source material for about two weeks for break in. I am now running them full range with with center and surrounds crossover set to 80hz and the sub set to about 50hz to get the lower hz. I know that is not the recommended way but I like it that way. I run them full range because I like the way the bass sounds and my Marantz receiver does not seem to mind the load. I have them biamped as I did the Inifinities.

I replaced some 16 year old Infinity Cappa 7 series II with the Polks. The Infinity's cost more than the TSX550T's but the Polk's sound better to me especially the base and mid range. The Infinity's have 10" woofers and sound a little boomy when run full range. I had them set to small and crossed at 60hz.
I have never heard any really expensive high end speakers to compare them to but I am very happy with these."

I know this is super late, if you haven't purchased them yet I'm still going to say I like them for price point, but if money isnt scarce I can't remember model but the kef's were around $1600 and sound much better but for price point these aren't much to talk **** about imo, but that's me, I also have the 220c but using some old school book shelf's I have but still sound amazing, the Polk rears I shyed away from due to shear size of a bahemuth how ever spelt in shear size, but if you want matching go for it, still debating months later to buy them just to keep matching, but Polk does sell it as a 5.0 set if that is appealing to yourself.

I use mine every single day from music to movies to watching TV but due to our TV PlayStation and laptop is all interconnected with the receiver

I picked up a pair of 550t's on New Year's Eve through a major stroke of luck (the whole story is in my first post "Noob needing advice" - kinda long-winded). I'm not qualified to give an expert review since I already feel out of my league with the 550's (which someone described as "entry level"), but I can say that I am delighted with them. I am having the experience of listening to CD's that I have enjoyed for 25+ years and hearing parts to the music that I have never heard before!
I am really happy that I had the patience to wait for the store to specially order a pair in Cherry finish. They are so prominent in our rather small family room the wood grain really adds to the room decor. I'm still trying to find an irresistible price on a 250c and maybe a pair of 220b's to match the timbre of the 550's, but in the meantime, my old Monitor 7's sound pretty good as surrounds. I'm not even sure that timbre matching will actually be very audible to me, but I guess we'll see.
